Another forum I'm on is discussing alternatives to plastic grocery bags and plastic home garbage bags (like the white kitchen bags and the black garbage bags). Some people mentioned things like paper bags for scooping cat poop, and corn based bags for garbage that are biodegradable.

I'm in a slightly different situation. I live on a farm where we incinerate what we can't recycle. We reduce/reuse/recycle what we can, but we still do have garbage that needs to be contained. So I'm not so concerned with what's biodegradable, but what is the least harmful for burning. Any thoughts?

Paper would be safer than plastic, no different than burning wood. Growing up, we always used paper bags and dad would tie them shut with twine. We has curbside collection, though, and were just being frugal since that is what was used at the grocery store.
