how do i go about this?
since we moved the water has been leaving the horrible(what is it?) gunk in my tea kettle and if i drink the last drop of my tea,i get a mouthful of grainy stuff
would i use baking soda?i tried scrubbing it off but it just keeps coming back
We've got the same problem over here. We use slightly diluted vinegar, let it soak and then wash it off. If it's really bad, sometimes heating the vinegar while inside the kettle helps.
good luck! This is a process we have to go through every couple of months.
We have hard water and get a calcium buildup in our tea kettle. Every once in a while, DH boils a mixture of water and vinegar in the kettle. Most of the white stuff disappears. Not sure how much vinegar he uses though.
Yup, I fill up my kettle and put in about 1/2 cup vinigar or lemon juice. I bring it to a boil and let it sit over night. In the morning I pour it out, add baking soda and scrub it out.
*Note* it's important to leave a note on the kettle when you do this. My Dh woke up before me one morning, turned on the heat under the full kettle and made coffee with the vinigar water.
lemon juice may taste better in your tea instead of the vinegar!
