As someone who thinks painting any room a shade of beige or a pastel is a crime, I say go for the blue, but I would suggest painting the wood trim a bright white. I think it would really help tone down the country feel. Even if you are against painting the trim, I think the blue would be okay if you had very light and neutral furniture and window treatments and a big light area rug.
