We are about to start a 3 month long remodel of our kitchen and master bath. We have someone doing all the work for us and they will be plasticing off the work areas so the dust, etc will be mainly contained to the area being worked on. We plan to use no or low VOC paint and carpet and green cabinets as well. I haven't looked into sealers, etc but will try to go with the healthiest option there too. If we get sand and finish hardwood floors we will leave for at least a week while they finish them.
My question is...do you think I'd be safe to try to get pregnant now? I wouldn't have thought a thing about it until I was reading on autism and they were saying not to remodel while pregnant. I feel like my exposure to the remodeling will be minimal, but I thought I'd get some more opinions. I wanted our kids close in age and the baby is already nearing 2.5 yrs so I'm more than ready to try to conceive. But of course the health of the baby is more important so if it will be problematic I will wait until the remodel is done.
Thank you. Cross posting this in TTC.
