I'm in need of a couple of high impact sports bras (I run), but I'm having problems finding something I can afford. What I'm seeing in stores here costs about $40 a bra.

Walmart.com has Danskin (good brand) high impact sports bras, for $10 each, but they don't have my size.

Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive place to shop for one?

If you can't find an inexpensive GOOD one, sometimes TWO inexpensive cheapy bras will work. I haven't shopped for running bras for a LONG time...but they used to sometimes have them at TJ Maxx and Marshall's...If they aren't supportive enough (I used to be a C-D cup before kids), wear two. It works!

I had a kickboxing class once and had to wear 3 sports bras (with the top one being about a size too small), to keep from feeling like my boobs were going to detach from my chest!

Re: an inexpensive high quality high impact sports bra...unfortunately I don't think that's possible. I would suggest investing in an Enell, instead of buying nickel and dime bras that won't give you the support you need.

Any thoughts about going down a cup size and getting the walmart $10 ones or is that a really bad idea?

Target has some really good ones - I think they run around $16 or so and the quality seems excellent. Not sure how they compare to the Walmart ones. The ones are Target look suitable to running and other high impact sports.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the expensive ones, IME. Sorry.

Sometimes I've seen them at Big Lots for very cheap, but you never know what you'll find there... if you know your size you could check amazon, too - lots of deals lately. Sierra Trading Post carries them, too, and you might get a deal there.

I got mine at Target--they had several different styles and I found two that worked well for me and were inexpensive.

I've had good luck finding sports bras at TJ Maxx; they go as low as around $10 on clearance. Lately, they have had a lot of Moving Comfort, Nike, and Champion.

I'm not that big (C cup). I just HATE bouncing when I run. I have a couple of $10 sports bras from Modell's Sporting goods and it's like I'm wearing nothing.

If my Cs are bothering me when I run, I can only imagine how women with larger breasts manage.

I'm about a C cup now that I am nursing. Target makes these that are great:

I bought a M and a L. I wear the M underneath the L. It works for me and I'm a runner.

Me too! Or how bfing saves money

I also wore two when I had little babies. Or a sports bra and a camisole with a built-in bra from Costco. I have great luck at Macy's. They have such extaordinary sales. But it's hard to know what they'll have on sale.

Sierra Trading Post sells nice sports bras, for pretty inexpensive. Plus if you go to FatWallet.com there are many times codes for % off and free shipping. They have a STP forum over there and I've gotten things for dirt cheap from STP.

I feel your pain. I'm a H cup, and ANY bra in my size costs $90 - $110. I only own 4 bras. Boobs are expensive. I think a breast reduction would save me money in the long term lol.

I wear a sports bra with underwire, then a non-underwire stretchy one on top. The second one is nice and tight.

Bouncy boobs are the pits when exercising, so I just double up and have even tripled them when pregnant with sore, achy breasts.

I am DD and have NEVER found a decent sports bra. I hear the Enells are fab.u.lous, but they cost a small fortune.

Try ebay. You never know what you'll find there- sometimes you find nothing in your size, sometimes you find stuff at close to retail prices, but sometimes you really strike gold and find something in your size, of excellent quality, at a fraction of retail price.

I'm currently an H cup and don't run. I could wear a medevial corset and still bounce.

: I'd suggest finding one you really like at a B&M store (don't look at price, just find the one--or a few--that fit really well), and then search for the same brand(s) on ebay!

If it's not urgent, I'd recommend this one http://www.championusa.com/Champion/...ion/CH072.aspx
A couple of times a year, they have a site-wide sale where you can get it for 19.99.
Good luck in your search!

My favorite sports bra is a Champion that I got dirt cheap at Kohls. I find that with the cheaper brands, you really have to go in and try them on. Sometimes you luck out with a cheaper bra that's good quality, but you never know until you bounce around the dressing room for awhile.

I hit the clearance rack at my local running stores.

Runners as a group tend to be not very chesty, so there are often plenty of the largers sizes left on the clearance rack.

I buy them on sale and then wear two.
