We're refinancing right now with a Wells Fargo affiliate, and we got 4.875% for 30 years with no points. The fees were low, and so far, it's been really smooth sailing. We close next week.

What do you mean when you say Wells Fargo affiliate?

My mortgage was through WF, and I would love to go back in there and refi at that rate!

I just re-fi'ed and am happy with my terms. National City does a free re-fi with minimal costs and no points. I get to skip 2 payments to help defray the costs. Closing next week, too.

old: 30 yr fixed; 5.98%
new: 28.5 yr fixed (rather than start over, I just picked up where I was); 4.875%

Well, my mom is a real estate agent whose company has an in-house financing team. The financing folks are a small mortgage company in their own right, but they only do Wells Fargo loans. They're able to offer good rates with low or no fees because they don't advertise (they usually just get clients through the real estate company) and their little company has their offices under the same roof as the real estate offices, so their overhead is very low.

If you like, I can give you the name and number of the broker who helped us, but keep in mind that we locked our rate in on Dec. 24th, and rates have risen a little since then. PM me if you want the info!
