Hi, I'm Sara, part-time WOHM of Mabel and wife to Nathan. I've been lurking on the F & F board for months but have always made up excuses to not participate in any no-spend months.

We need this month (and many subsequent months!) to be spending money on only the necessary items and throwing any and all extra $ at our stinkin' $12,000 in cc debt. I'm working FT for the next 10 weeks, while DH goes down to 3 days/week, so we plan on putting everything he makes into the CCs. On paper, we should be fine with just my paycheck, but the trick is to actually make that happen.

Goals for the month:

No-spend days: 15 :
Necessary spending:
Unnecessary spending: :
Groceries spent so far: 36/450
Eating out spent so far: 0/80

2/1 - $15 groceries for meetup group breakfast
2/2 - $21 groceries , $134.56 payoff MC, $27 payoff AMEX #2, $100 back into DD's savings acct.
2/3 - : so far...

Sara, wife to Nathan, mommy to Mabel 6/25/07 and Malcolm 5/13/10

Boy, did I grocery shop today! I bought sooo much stuff, we should be good for most of the month except for fresh produce. Our freezer is FULL of meat--I shouldn't have to buy meat until mid March at the earliest. It feels great to be stocked up, especially since I only spent a little over 1/3 of our grocery budget for the month. You wouldn't *believe* the amount of stuff I got for $245. I did splurge on renting some movies this afternoon, but it's keeping us from going out and spending probably three times that much on some other form of entertainment this week, so I'm okay with it.

1 - $106.94 clothes/shoes for my boys, $25.12 lunch, $29.36 dinner
2 -
3 - $7.98 lunch, $243.26 groceries/household, $15.57 movies

1/15 NO SPEND days
$243.26/$600 groceries/household expenses
$62.46/$200 eating out
$106.94/$300 spring/summer clothes for me & the kids
0/$125 6 gifts for Christmas 2009

I'm joining in for the first time! A little late but DH and I finally sat down and talked budget and we're both on board.

I'm a SAHM to my 7 month old DD. We're starting to build up our savings because we just found the perfect community for us to move to : ...but buying a house there will be super expensive. We're trying to have faith that this is meant to be and the universe will show us the way to make it happen but in the meantime we're cutting back and decluttering and generally simplifying everything.

Goals:

- Figure out our grocery budget and reduce number of trips to the supermarket
- Reduce number of car trips (can't even aim for any no-drive days , one of many reasons we want to move)
- 15 no-frivolous-spending days
- No dinners out; 2 lunches a week at the local deli
- Help DH to kick his Dunkin Donuts habit!

2/1--Lunch out, $20. 2 trips to Dunkin Donuts, $10
2/2--deli, $15. gourmet shop, $30
2/3--Dunkin Donuts, $5. Wedding gift, $25
2/4--Groceries, $45. Shipping for book for DH's cousin, $10. Haircut for DH, $20
2/5--No spend!

c. How you plan to get there

1) Budget all spending on food - goal is $40 a week (my half of the weekly bill)
2) Stick to the library
3) Stay in the neighborhood as to avoid paying for public transit (we don't have a car)
4) No new clothes or other unnecessary items
5) Leave debit & credit card at home and only use cash
6) record spending here and in my personal diary

So here goes:

no spend =
groceries = :
unnecessary =
saved or used to pay for bills, trip, extra loan payment =

Groceries 35/120
Trip Savings 0/200
Money saved for March bills 0/1000 (includes rent, utilities, and loan payments)
Extra loan payment 0/100
Cat stuff 19.00

2/1- $35 shopping for the week :
2/2-
2/3- $19.00 on cat food - forgot to put this in the budget, will remember next month. Although most of the bill was for a big bag of dry food that will last two months.
