well it seems congress was sitting on the approval for the 700 some odd billion for stimulus package this year. Obama signed it monday morning, this is why people who claimed EIC and recovery rebate are being pushed back because they/I were waiting for the president to sign the bill. And to top it off when you call there other number 1-800-829-0582 it says "due to high volume please call (same darn number) and hangs up. im getting really tired of waiting for my money while they collect interest while our refunds sit in there bank, its bad enough they take the money all year interest free but then hold it to get more money in there bank. but hey if owe them money they do everything short of knocking your door down if you dont pay fast. to make matters worse i have lost my job due layoffs and my car was repossed lastnight and i got a notice from the apartment complex of a eviction notice was filled. i was counting on this money to pick us up on our feet until i found a new job. so lo and behold my family has to move in with my parents and start all over. American Dream? dont get me wrong i love America but does america love us? i dont think so, seems to money hungry and doesnt listen to the people who pay there paychecks i.e. irs

see ewhat i tell yah =). now that the new stimulus is signed and finally got to talk someone at irs they told me my return is finished and will be deposited on the 20th.

i called back to see what my final return amount would be and the lady told me i had a offset (which i know about from the department of defense $678 is what they told me when i called) but then she tells me it looks like there taking my whole refund for the offset and my return was for $4683. after offset it should be $4004. whats going on? i called the 1800-304-3107 and they confirmed i only have 1 offset which is the one mentioned above. i think this lady doesnt know what she was tlaking about.

Not a single update on mine. Isn't 4 weeks for efile too long? Everyone keeps saying how quick they got their refunds, with a rebate and EIC bonus! Why me? Single mama of 5 needs refund money pronto IRS!

Just another person wondering what is going on . I filed with turbotax. Originally Where is my Refund said I would receive it by the 17th, now I'm getting a 1301 code, but every time I time to call the lines are to busy. It was a pretty straight forward return. What do you think this means?

Don't rely on turbotax only the IRS. Turbotax told me i would have my refund on 1/30 which originally the IRS did too but then the IRS changed it to 2/24. I still have no word on mine.

Mine still shows the 24th on Where's My Refund? and we're getting the Rebate Recovery Credit, EITC, Additional CTC, had 6 W-2s, a couple different 1099 forms, etc. but we didn't use TurboTax. We'll see if it gets deposited on schedule

So today the IRS site says my refund is still delayed and to call them for further info and i have a reference number of 1201. No date anymore just call them. So i guess in my spare time i will sit on hold with them for an hour to figure out why a simple return with simple efile is on hold after 4 weeks.

Federal return: filed 2/14
Per Turbo Tax: refund directly deposited by 2/27
Per Where's My Refund: refund directly deposited by 3/3

Just talked to the IRS and they said someone has my return and is working on it but i need to give them a few more weeks to process it. This person got my return on 2/5 and it typically takes 3-4 weeks for these people to exam the returns so i need to wait it out. I can't even tell you how distressing this is.

I've never had as much agita with my tax refund as this year. We submitted it on 2/1 and expected it by the 13th. Nope, nothing, but on the 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 the IRS site said it'd be deposited in the bank on the 17th. Nothing. Now the site just says our return is being processed and doesn't give a date, but dh called and was told it would be released on the 20th. We'll see, I am skeptical. :

I wonder what the heck is going on. That is very strange. I'd be panicked if that were us. I guess the reality is that there more than likely isn't any problem with the vast majority of these returns and that it is something else, but what? I am sorry so many are having so much trouble. Is there any pattern with certain states or something?

Maybe I missed it but did everyone who's waiting on their refund file w/ Turbo Tax? From a quick glance, it looks like this is the case, but I didn't read the thread in depth. I wonder if there's a problem w/ the Turbo Tax software?? We filed w/ TaxCut, and though the IRS took forever posting info on their WMR site, we did get our refund when we were scheduled to.

I'm sorry all of you are going through this angst.

Just for info purposes, we e-filed with turbo tax and the money was in the bank a week earlier than they originally projected. We even had a baby in 2008 so we got the extra $300 for the stimulus, and it went through fine.

I hope all of you who are waiting get yours quickly!

Nope. I e-filed with TaxSlayer and my refund was delayed 1 week according to the IRS chart. I've used TaxSlayer since 2003, and this has never happened before.

We have had a delay on our return as well. We were told (online and by turbotax) that funds would be deposited on the 13th. They did not show and then we were told it would be that weekend. That did not happen. So we called the IRS and finally got through and hubby was on hold for nearly an hour. The woman we talked to apologized and said the the website had been giving out false dates. She told us we were scheduled for this Friday and not to worry that everything had been accepted and was fine.

It has been hard as we we already on a tight budget this month and then some unexpected and absolutly nessasary college exprenses came up and left us with almost nothing for food and gas. We had to skip groceries and ate everything in our pantry (lasted over a week and it wasn't very well stocked) and ran out on Monday. Thank goodness for craigslist and quick cash sales of things around the house. We are managing to get through this week, but I sure hope it goes in tomorrow like the are saying it will.
