Had to go buy groceries yesterday whihc was kind of discouraging to start a challenge off with spending. I did stick to my list with the exception of day-old cinnamon buns. I'm going to excuse that because without something sweet to eat you better believe I'll be running to Timmies for a doughnut!

Sigh. I'm already doing poorly. I did a big grocery trip, and if I'm careful, I should be able to keep in my budget for the month -- I think I'll only need to buy milk, eggs, and butter, and maybe apples. We'll see. I'm not feeling terribly optimistic at this point. I do, however, have at least $30 of grocery money points saved up, and I'm supposed to be getting another $20 from a coupon I used yesterday. That will really help.

2: $14 dh took the kids to a movie

4: $366 groceries and got photos developed

Changing my budget a bit because if I keep it like this where I've already "failed" I won't have much incentive to keep going. Plus Df and my father's birthdays are next week so I will have to spend some more money before the 14th.

28/03 - $89 on movie, clothes and dinner with a friend
01/03 -
02/03 -
03/03 -
04/03 - : $25 clothes $40 shampoo and toothbrush heads $18 bus tickets $11 cleaning products = $94

I had to go to a different town clear across the state yesterday for a seminar today. I found out at the last minute. So, we stopped for tacos and had pizza for dinner, which work paid for, so maybe I shouldn't even count it, but there's this a convaluted way that my finances work, so it will go on the bottom line of my total spending for the month, so I'm counting it.

The sitter has to go and buy new life jackets for the kiddos b/c the entirety of the $80 spent at wal-mart yesterday, I forgot to pack in the van, so the kids have no life jackets for swimming. So, there'll be more money today for new life jackets, lunch for them while they're out and something else, I'm sure. It all just adds up - ugh.

1. $0
2. $6.40 groceries/lunch
3. $0
4. $30 taxes, $80 Walmart, $20 taco time, $9 convenience store, $25 pizza, gas (unknown amt)

* 2/10 no spend days
* $100 total (cash) for food/entertainment while in NY (I plan to do a cleanse while I'm there next month, so this should more than cover it.)
* $50 misc total for the month
* no new shoes for anyone this month.
* eat out for lunch only 1x/week regardless of who pays
Week 1 - Tues
Week 2 -
Week 3 -
Week 4 -
Week 5 -

this month I have:
-no known expense that needs $ put aside so far! OF course that is when TSHTF as we all know!
-Costco run. I have a list of items we will be running out of within the next few weeks. I am really good about sticking to my list too! It will be about $100 or so expense.
-Frontier Order. This will be about $100 or so too.

Key of the Method of my Madness:

no money left my wallet or bank account:
deposited money for savings :
messed up
planned spending
eat from what I have on hand: :

1 church donation and grocery 42.95/400
2 & :
3 & :
4 $21 for sushi at moms night out; groceries delivery $41.02
= $83.97/400 for the month
5 payday/mortgage due; car insurance due

I think this might be the hardest thread to keep up with! I'm a couple of days behind.

Melissa -- Thank you!! I'm looking forward to more gardening fun this year.

MomtoRyan -- Yes, I think this is a legit expense! Even my husband agreed this is a legitimate expense, and he doesn't think anything is legitimate.

Our property's very shady in the back (small property, lined with trees in the backyard), so I can't grow here (tried it, failed), but I'm growing over at my ILs' and we're going to test the water of indoor, hydroponic growing. We focused on getting the landscaping done last summer - planted Hydrangeas, Knockout Roses and Spirea (I believe). We're going to bust up the sidewalk (for free, yay!) and put down a stone walkway (also free, many people in our families farm, lots of creeks to raid).
This sounds neat! I can't wait to hear how it work's out!

March 1: $47 at the Grocery Store, $2 for Coke
March 2: No Spend!
March 3: $23 at the Grocery Store
March 4: : $2 (McDonald's) , $16 (Groceries), $10 (Movies), $20 (CVS)
March 5:

Yesterday, not my best day. I went to movies with friends, which I don't mind at all, because we don't get to hang out that much. The $20 at CVS was for pregnancy tests, which I am unable to resist. And yes, we have a dollar store, but I still feel the pull to CVS for First Response. Which was made all the worst this morning by my temp drop this morning. GRrrrrr.

Today, good stuff. I found a delicious recipe for homemade pizza crust, which we ended up having for lunch and dinner! Hehe.

Actual:
3/31 days
1/31 days
1/31 :
4/31: cook at home
4/31: eat at home

Goals:
23/31 days: necessary spending or no spending (groceries, gas, copays, etc)
8/31: days: unnecessary, but budgeted spending
0/31 days: overbudget, frivolous spending

I'd like to cook dinner 25/31 days.
I'd like to eat dinner at home 29/31 days.
I'd like to complete my grocery pricebook by the end of the month.
I'd like to come under budget by $100 this month. This is a toughie, because our budget it pretty trim.

Mommy to two super cute kids.

My friend mentioned that our local Walmart put their backyard pools on sale for $184 and I thought that was too good to be true (they are usually $350), so we went to check it out and it WAS true.
