some disappointing financial news today, resulting in approximately $800 less a month right now. argh!!! will be able to recoup if the economy bounces back, but i hope it happens soon. Economic woes can really add stress to a relationship and I feel for everyone right now dealing w/ job layouts, cut backs, etc. etc. This economy just bites.

im doing better than the last few months, but as anyone could see, there is approximately $300 this month that didnt' NEED to be spent.

3 $70 food; $25 gas :

11: $85.51 food $25 paperbackswap.com postage
12:::
13: $27 food for raw pie ingredients; $150 food processor (mine broke..this was completely unexpected! argh!).
14:$5 for eggstravaganza w/ unschooling group

Goals
:5/20 No Spend Days
2/20 Decluttering/Organizing Days/30 minutes (NOT cleaning)
1/5 Library Days w/ boys

Plan: record everything here (did Feb & March and it made a huge difference in my spending) and use the envelope system.

Grocery weeks:
March 29 - April 4: 99.00/100
April 5 - April 11: 99.50/100
April 12 - April 18: 56.00/100
April 19 - April 25: 0/100
April 26 - May 2: 0/100

Type of spending
= budgeted spending
= not budgeted spending
= no spend

What the $ was spent on

or : = $ spent on baby or cat
= $ spent on me

4/1 - on : 10.00 for next week's fruit & veggie delivery
4/2 -
4/3 - on - dealing with terrible cold
4/4 - on : 1.95
4/5 - on : 89.50 eek, grocery budget is used up for the week - must stick to menu.
4/6 -
4/7 - on - 13.50
4/8 -
4/9 -
4/10 - on HAB supplies - still haven't really made a budget for this type of thing
4/11 -
4/12 - on - gift card
4/13 -
4/14 - on : 56.00

Doing well this month. I earned my first paycheck and talked dh out of spending some fun money, so we are up a few bucks. It is all getting funneled to the cc and it looks like I am ahead by a week to get it paid off.

I am leading a LLL meeting tonight and need to scrounge something for a snack. I have baking supplies, just need to whip them up into something palatable. Hmmm? Cranberry bread and tea?

DP was working on a Memorial Project for the one year anniversary of her Grandfather's death. She wanted to send CD's to all of her cousins and family before the anniversary. So last night we were up LATE getting everything together to mail. Long story short, the CD's didn't work so we ended up getting thumb drives to send to all of her family (which worked out better because we could include all of the pictures that were scanned so they can have them). The project was very healing for DP, when she wasn't angry becasue it wasn't going her way, so eventhough it wasn't BUDGETED I think it was worth it

I can't believe how well I'm doing! It keeps getting easier every day, although there are two larger purchases I'm always dreaming about. One is a mattress for the floor (currently I sleep on a mattress top on the floor, which isn't terrible but it's a bit firm!). The other is an outdoor fire pitt that I've wanted for aaages! I'll be driving past the store that sells them this weekend- it's about 45 mins away and in the middle of nowhere but on the way to my mums house. It's about half the price of the mattress, so I'm thinking about using some of the money I've saved for that, yet I also feel really guilty if I do. I don't have a lot of money to save in the first place, so spending it on this would dwindle that down even more then again I've been waiting foreeever to get this so I know it's not an impulse purchase. I can't decide!! **ETA** Nevermind, looks like the city bylaws have changed so I can't legally get a fire pitt anyway... bummer, but then again, now I can't spend my money!

April 1: ($14 at used book sale and $5 parking fees for said sale, within personal weekly budget)
April 2: (grocery day) $178 = $85 on bulk for month, $93 for weekly meals
April 3: and Paid rent and daycare bills, but no spending other than that.
April 4- earned $5 for bringing in beer and wine bottles, spent $16 on groceries at market (still within weekly food budget).
April 5- No spend day!
April 6- $5 on milk (came in just under week's food budget!) and $7 budgeted on new pens.
April 7- and grocery day! $140 on groceries ($56 monthly, 84 weekly) plus $34 for diapers and $5 at dollar store for elastics, carpet cleaner and push pins (budgeted).
April 8- and Stayed within budget- $5 on radio for myself, $25 for clothes for DD. Earned $40 on clothes.
April 9- $56 on wine and beer.
April 10- No spend day (sick)
April 11- $11.29 on toilet paper, $20 for bus to toronto.
April 12- no spend day
April 13- $9 for milk and cream at Mac's, $26 on gas.
April 14-- grocery day, $60
April 15- Paid day care but no spend otherwise!

$29/$80 entertainment, hobbies, etc.
$410/$600 groceries
$50/$50 DD
$56/$50 alcohol
$11.29/$100 household
$12/$50 Misc.
$46/$100- gas & other transportation

No spend or only necessary, budgetted spending like groceries, day care, rent, gas, etc.
Budgeted personal expenses only, hobbies, entertainment, etc.
Frivolous spend!- includes going over budget for things like groceries or gas.
Avoided urge to spend! (such as really wanted to go to book store but went to library instead, or other such action) or decluttered/purged in some way.

Loads of beautiful rain for the past few days and the garden is really booming. I did a bit of grocery shopping today, but skipped buying any veggies since we need to eat up the kale as it goes to seed.

And I sucked it up and paid off my library fines at two libraries today. Ouch. Must be better about getting our books back on time. That was a good deal of wasted money.

Oh! And I had the best month and have been driving much, much less. I filled the tank today and realized that it has been 32 days since I last bought gas. Hooray! : I have been trying so hard to drive less, simplify and stay closer to home. It is working! We are using less gas, but we are also exploring our own town and finding resources closer to home.
