a. Who you are: SAHM (mostly) to a 5yo boy in K. I work a bit at our family business and occasionally substitute teach.

b. Where you are going (your financial goals): For the 1st time in my life I feel on shaky financial ground. My horse who I decided last summer was too expensive has recently been diagnosed with a disease that is controllable but expensive. I feel like I can't abandon him but I am drowning in bills. So I need to tighten up even more on other expenses.

c. How you plan to get there: This month I am trying to eliminate all fast food (for some reason when I get stressed I crave it). I am also being more honest with people who pressure me to spend money. Focus on free entertainment and selling off things around here we don't need (like why do I still have my trombone 25 year after I stopped playing.

May 1 $0
May 2 $0 (went to Free Comic Book Day)
May 3 $15 (sick horse supplies, stuck to my list 100%)
May 4 $120 for DS karate lessons
May 5 $7 fish supplies for DS school, $7 cub scout manual (signed up for getting a used uniform though)
May 6 $10 groceries, $5 plants from school fundraiser, $4 on fast food (ugh!)
May 7 $17 gas (used my $.21 off/gallon coupon), DH had to spend $30 for DS cub scout stuff
May 8 $36 groceries, $59 vitamins/supplements (we were out of a lot of basics)
May 9 $0 !!!!!!!
May 10 $75 for garden plants (pretty good since last year I spent hundreds of $$)
May 11 $2.30 for eggrolls because I forgot to eat lunch before I et the house and $270 vet bill for the dang horse (hopefully the end of those big bills is coming to an end soon)
May 12 $0
May 13 I spent no $, but DH bought a motorcycle for $900 and dinner out for us. On the plus side the guy we bought the moto from gave me a bunch of wild trillium and other wildflowers for free and said I can come back for more anytime.
May 14 $21 groceries, $77 household supplies + vitamins
May 15 $0
May 16 $20 gas, $23 a book for DS, $9 fast food
May 17 $30 oil for Bobcat and treats for DS K class
May 18 $0
May 19 $0 (and I was able to pay off my entire credit card bill this month!)
May 20 $2.66 fast food
May 21 $0
May 22 $100 groceries, $7 books
May 23 $4 fast food
May 24 $6 hardware store, $21 for 4 DVDs at the pawn shop
May 25 $0
May 26 $10 ate out, $6 for 2 dozen organic eggs
May 27
May 28
May 29
May 30

I am so getting back into this! This thread rocks!

I did this about a year and a half ago, and cut the amount I was spending in half over the course of several months. Its still too much, since its more than my husband makes, and my finances are in really bad shape, but the less I spend, the less "bad" it will be, right?

I am a SAHM, with an embarrassing amount of debt. My husband is building a business, and it is, of course, slow at the moment. I've recently started tutoring to bring in more money, which helps some.

My goals this month are to:

* Cut my fast food/eating out in half
* Cut the "fat" out of my utility bills
* spend only what I absolutely have to at the store
* grocery shop at Winco, the cheapest place in my town (and also the toughest to do with my kids )

Homeschooling mom of 2 rambunctious, loving, spectacular boys, wife to an incredible man who has been my best friend on this journey <3

I'm a SAHM of two. My husband is a student and we currently live off of his military benefits so money is really tight. Do-able, but very tight, and we haven't been very good with staying on budget. My mom has been giving us way too much freebie money and we've gotten spoiled, simply put. I really hate being even this dependent on her and want to be self-sufficient. I feel a lot of shame over accepting money from her. Lot of baggage and control issues. And my husband grew up poor but has never had to be accountable for any money spent so he has never learned self-control and really feels depressed if he can't blow his money on toys. I want to prove to him that we *can* do this!

Goals:
* Stay at home as much as possible.
* Use cash ONLY so we can really figure out where the money is going
* Keep fast food out of our lives completely

We had to take the stupid van to the shop today. Ugh. We have money in the bank for stuff like this, but dang it - it's really irritating considering we JUST spend quite a bit of money on that stupid van last week. *sigh*

= unbudgeted spending
= budgeted spending
= no spend

1 - paid bills and bought a few groceries
2 - bought a car seat, a few more groceries, and a treat that was budgeted (well, okay - we bought a trash can, but we had a gift card someone had given us, so we didn't spend anything!)
3 - groceries, again, but they were still budgeted, so we're still good

Why, oh why, did nobody shop from my baby registry? Or even take hints from it as to general categories of things I might be needing? Aaaaaargh!

Anyhow, baby shopping today. I kept in under control, and my SIL is lending me a ton of stuff, so really I'm very lucky even if I DO have slightly more tiny frilly outfits than anybody needs.
