Can't believe it is almost the end of the month...whew. It has been a long one, but good one. Happy to be back with this group!

*****
June 1 - $80 Dinner for church crew that moved us, well worth it!
June 2 - $5.50 Annual Dues for Mom's Group
June 3 - made money by doing a 1 hour survey group - $75 CASH
June 4 - $75 Target - We just moved this week so I should have budgeted in some things we needed
June 5 - $10 Breakfast, Snacks
June 6 - Yes, a good day!
June 7 - $20 Lunch/Sitter so I could participate in a church activity
June 8 - Long day, but worth it
June 9 - There is the smile we've been looking for, even resisted Coldstone
June 10 - $5 on coffee
June 11 - $450 for new car radiator. This is actually ok as we have money set aside for car emergencies so this isn't dipping into any of our actual budget. We've never used this money before but now I am glad it's there!
June 12 - Used certificate at Costco and got meat FREE! (and purchased nothing else!)
June 13 - $17.75 Blockbuster ... DH travels for work and we cut out all the cable. I can definitely see the value in Netflix after going to Blockbuster I was SHOCKED at how much a couple movies cost!
June 14 - $16.50 Dinner Out - Laziness, pure laziness
June 15 - $20 - Trip home
June 16 -
June 17 - $35 Carpet for living room in new house (this is a great deal as the ones I have been looking at were over $100).
June 18 -
June 19 -
June 20 - $30 Father's Day Brunch (DH is out of town tomorrow)
June 21 - Breakfast @ home, Picnic Lunch from home, Dinner @ home Woo!
June 22 - $20 - Free cupcakes was a bust and I ended up buying treats
June 23 - $25 Dinner date with DH - totally worth it (read a statistic today that said 81% of women said that no matter what they spend on date night they find it worth while to keep going on them! AMEN!)
June 24 - Even went to the zoo and spent zero, nice!
June 25 - Didn't leave the house much, too hot! We did play in the hose twice!
June 26 - $4 Starbucks...I have spenditis today...not good. Came home and am trying not to leave again.
June 27 - Block party, everyone shares everything, great day!
June 28 - $20 Dinner/Movie - forgot this was on the agenda for this month or I could have budgeted for it...ugh.

In my experience maybe, maybe not. If he is getting paid the same annual salary but getting more paychecks it just means that you will get less per paycheck. The difference may effect the way you pay your bills. Keep us posted and let us know how the change goes.

I am Amy, sah mom to my 2 girls. We carry no debt. I do these challenges here and there when I need to plan forward such as this month. Since we are coming out of May and June is a quiet month, its a great time to save. We are redoing our master bath in July as well.

Planned spending:

groceries: 555.86/550 is my goal this month

farmer's market: $20 a week. Its in my neighborhood, I want to keep our businesses nearby, so I am doing this each and every week.
Farmers market $66.25/$100 for June

fun money: $25 a week. This is for lunches again in my neighborhood, ice cream store etc. When I buy from the local people, 70% of my money goes back into my town, when I buy from the big box maybe 10% does.
Fun Money 88.99/100 for the month

Key
: no spending
planned spending or fun/farmers market money
: ate what we had on hand or from grocery run
: no car day only walked or biked or public transit

1 ::
2 : : $18/100 for farmers' market
3 : produce/dairy delivery 36.28/550 $18.34/100 fun money
4 ::
5 get paid, mortgage and mc due paid bill/ fun money-3.39 + 13.25 at a yard sale so 34.98/100
6 :: : $20 for fundraising but going to a crop.
7 groceries- $64.30 = 100.58/550 for the month $6 dd's allowance
8 groceries $17.71= 118.29/550
9 farmers market and fun money
10 ::
11 ::
12
13 ::
14 ::
15 ::
16 target run: $50.02 to grocery and supplies; fun money $22.25; farmers market $17.75
17 ::
18 grocerys for party plus a few supplies= 89.65
19 gifts for several bday parties- $74. 2 webkinz (allowance and fun money) $26/pay day
20 take out thai= $30.40. Very yummy and a good treat since we do that not too often.
21 $10 church.
22 Grocery-87.99/fun money $5.76
23 $10 farmers market
24 Aldi/Tjs run and veggie delivery-=105.83
25 $16 for gift
26 $36 for 2 pairs of shorts- one for me, another for DH. Need badly! $25.02 gas
27
28 DH suprised me w date night! out to eat
29 grocery run- $23.03
30 farmers market $20[/QUOTE]

So $5 over my grocery budget so I am right to keep it about $550 for grocery and supplies etc.
It was either raining or hot hot hot on farmers market days so $40 less than I thought but we went out to eat etc, so it covered it!

Well things are not going well at work. It seems like the boss is thinking about laying off some people. I am probably one of them since I am new. I am worried. I am trying not to panic but I am totally in panic mode right now. What a bizarre birthday.

I'm going for a no charge to the badge at work month! Wahoo! I also picked up another shift at work this week so that'll be extra money. July looks good! :

I am SO FRUSTRATED! The computer that I have Quicken on died a few days ago. ARG! It was where I was keeping a super-close eye on the expenses.

Everything is backed up online, but I (obviously) have nothing budgeted for getting that computer fixed... and it was an old copy of Quicken too, and I don't have the disk anymore... UGH.

Anyway, June went pretty darn well. We cut up all the credit cards except one which will go back to being for emergencies. We successfully finished negotiating our mortgage holiday. We applied to protest our property taxes. We started down the path to debt relief by making a debt reconciliation plan and sticking to it. We made our first household budget based on DH's new job (yay!). We switched from evil Chase Bank to a local credit union. And we cancelled the non-essentials. Oh, and I already made a July meal plan and purchased all of July's groceries! We've set aside an amount for weekly perishables as well.

We didn't do perfectly sticking to the budget, but the overall in versus out was good. We were positive at the end of the month and we didn't put anything on credit cards!!! :

Mom to : DS1 (11), DS2 (8), DD3 (4), : DS4 (1), and : : :

Great timing for a new monthly spending challenge! Good luck!

*****

Doing better with being open about our budget and where we stand with DH. I just have a hard time telling him no but he relies on me to let him know where we are financially. I'm happy to report that I was honest and said no to some things he brought up this week and he took it great and I feel so much better!

June 29
June 30

Total No Spend Days - 14/30

I think I can do better than this (and should do better than this!) I'm also waiting to see how my unemployment shakes up. This would help alleviate some of the stress we have due to debt, although I should curb my spending either way.
