9 - $1 for candy bar $12 on gas
10 - $2 fast food $12 groceries
11 - Rx for cat $18, Farmer's Market $20, stop-gap plumbing repair $50

15 - : NO SPEND AT ALL
16 - $22 postage, $20 cash, $83 Costco, $1 vending machine

A BIG spend day. But at least one of the books I am mailing out was a half.com order. I did break down and get snack from the vending machine, but it was due to a work scheduling issue.

I'm still deciding if I want to go to the grocery store tomorrow or not. There are some good sales, as usual, but we still have plenty of food on hand. I'll have to review the ads again tonight.

Still no baby... *sigh* my DH has been on call for work for 4 days which is great, I need to go into labor while he is here so if this baby can just hurry up that would be great!?!

Spending is going pretty well considering we are all home. We have been doing a lot of playing outside in the beautiful weather and lots and lots of walking around the neighborhood.

*****
(I am recording all unbudgeted spending here and loan payoffs!)

July 1 - Went to the zoo (free), set up DH's commuter benefits ($100/month savings!)
July 2 - Just cleaned the house and getting ready for guests
July 3 - $30 Target - Stuff for the kids for the holiday, fun but not necessary
July 4 - Used budgeted entertainment monies and spent less than anticipated due to rain
July 5 - Went to the beach (free) took a cooler lunch & snacks (free)
July 6 - Sick...not going anywhere
July 7 - Still Sick
July 8 - Still Sick (at least it's good for not spending!)
July 9 - $15 at Target - DH made this run, I think he was getting sick of my being sick
July 10 - Paid off AFNI Student Loan : Saved $15 by balancing the checkbook (the bank double deducted a small check I had written!)
July 11 - Free slurpee day and just playing outside, relaxing
July 12 - $9.50 eating out (me being too lazy to cook on a warm day)
July 13 - And had $29 left over from our regular grocery shopping!
July 14 - Paid off personal loan from family member
July 15 - $40 Date Nite (Harry Potter, Dinner, Sitter) worth it
July 16 - $10 Custard Stand - Pregnant Woman craving

I have $160 left in the budget for the rest of the month -- bills are all paid, I have a fridge full of groceries and a farm share and milk delivery on Thursdays -- this should be very doable.

I can't think of anything we need to spend that $160 on other than miscellaneous food items.

So I took that $160 in cash out of the ATM yesterday and I'm putting my debit card in the filing cabinet. If I can't pay cash for it, I can't get it.

I'm trying this for the first time to see if it works.

01.. $13 Chlorine for pool and test strips
02..
03..
04..
05.. $60 birthday party supplies
06..
07.. $5 for a clean bedspread
08..
09..
10.. $17 Lowe's for building supplies
11.. $102 Eating out
12..
13..
14.. $100 birthday party supplies
15.. $67 Pool chemicals
16.. $3.17 postage
17..

My Goals:

9/20 No Spend Days
0/5 Let the car rest days :

Jumping back on the wagon mid-month if that is ok. I am starting on a very strict budget as of tomorrow (receiving public assistance), so I feel a little funny about spending anything unnecessary. (I am not going to track groceries, as I receive food stamps, have a CSA farm share and receive WIC, so I shouldn't ever have a need to buy food.) Here goes!

for days not spending anything at all
for days with budget spending (bills, gas for car, etc)
for days with unnecessary spending.

Joining mid-month!
We may not be able to make our mortgage this month, so I am stopping all unnecessary spending for the rest of the month!

7/14 - doctor's appt - copay $25
7/15 - gas for the car - $28, groceries - $4.40 (saved $24 with coupons!)
7/16 - went out to a pizza place with DH's coworkers - $30.
7/17 -
7/18 - Couldn't resist a rocking yard sale I passed. :/ Spent $10 for 6 books for DD, a book of homeschool curriculum, 15 hangers (we really needed them), a beach chair, and an Elefun game for DD because it was a quarter. This is why I need this challenge!

Hey! I'm joining mid-month too! I feel like every few months I start off here...and then I lose it....

DP & I had THE money talk last week. I'm moving to an overnight rotation at work, so both kids are going to need to be in full-time childcare (so I can sleep). I've been losing my mind lately because this is obviously going to be a huge financial adjustment. Add to that, there are some things going on with DP's family that may result in us paying for more things. Yeah, we need to buckle down.

We made an agreement to each take out $20/week and that will be for our "incidentals". I just went along with it for Jason....he's a huge "debit card for coffee/cokes/random crap", I don't really need it. Jason stuck to his limit pretty well. I didn't even take the cash out.

Today I took cash out and paid my library fine , so I have a little cash for the rest of the week. I'm also re-focused on not eating out, cooking from scratch, meal-planning. This morning Jason commented "Wow, we've been eating REALLY well this week! I can get used to this!"

7/10
7/11
7/12
7/13
7/14
7/15
7/16
7/17 $3.30 Library fines (I actually thought it would be more)

Yesterday, I also paid a bunch of bills online, and took the "extra" off the upcoming mortgage payment. It's only $16, but we are spending quite a bit on home repairs right now. I figure it's still going to the house.

Today is a day for cleaning and maybe getting some stuff up on Craigslist.

I am coming down off from all of the meds for the eye thing, and I feel a million times better. I am going back to work tomorrow. I have been cleared to drive with an eye patch. My MIL offered to drive me if I decide I can't, so I have that as a backup- although truth be told I get car sick easily when anyone drives so it might be easier to drive myself. I will only miss out on two days of pay this way because I had sick time to cover a large chunk of it. I can not wait to get back in to the swing of life! I can't let temporary blindness get in the way of my goals. I have to pay pay pay these hospital bills off

Key:
= No Spend Day
: = Spend Day

I don't put in bill paying or grocery/gas buying in with my spending, because they are budgeted items.

July 1st
July 2nd
July 3rd : Spent $15 on a gift. I was invited to dinner at a former student's house so I bought him something to take with me.
July 4th
July 5th
July 6th
July 7th
July 8th
July 9th
July 10th : Urgent Care visit, bill to come
July 11th : ER visit, bill to come, plus $2.40 medicine
July 12th
July 13th: :Eye doctor visit, bill to come, neurologist visit, bill to come, 24 hour hospital stay, bill to come
July 14th: : Four MRIs, bill to come
July 15th : IV treatment bill to come, family doctor follow up bill to come. And $24 for dinner, which we shouldn't have done but DH has been doing all of the housework and all of the cooking so I didn't say anything.
July 16th : IV treatment bill to come; medication that I can not remember how much it was. I paid cash and I was totally out of it :
July 17th : Another $56 on medication. : : : Then $31.75 planned oil change for the car, $95.67 for groceries and cat food/litter (we usually get a better deal on the cat stuff but I haven't been working so I couldn't go to my normal place in the town I work at) and $25.96 gas for the car.
July 18th I did nothing this day. I just relaxed and let the body heal!
July 19th

I am back and ready to keep on no spending! Oh, and can I just say thank God for medical insurace! Truly, you have no idea! :

Still no baby...hoping for soon! The pressure in my nether regions is about to push me over the edge!

Not a lot of spending because we haven't gone very far (mostly church and a few small errands!)

July 17 - Stayed in and watched our most recent Netflix delivery
July 18 - - Although I did spend budgeted monies at Target and that always makes me feel I just can't believe that household items (on sale with coupons) still cost so much.
July 19 - Just church activities today
