Today is DS' 3rd birthday; had a fantastic, fairly frugal day (trip to the fair was planned + dinner out will be included in monthly budget - the big party is next weekend, where I must maintain frugality for ~50 guests).

Take good care,

I'm in!! i'm going to try and *really* limit my extra spending/cut down on my grocery/take out bills. I can't vouch for dh being on board or me being able to keep track of what he spends but I'll keep track of me and what I know of

01- Nothin!:
02- $57.00 for bi-weekly organic csa box-which for the second shipment in a row was VERY disappointing to the point where I'm thinking of canceling but on a plus dh didn't spend ANY $!!
03-Dh! $50 for gas-$10 for food for his lunch: Me NUTHIN:
04-Dh went grocery shopping, which needed to be done BUT we needed just a few things...not cookies, wasabi peas, popcorn so he spent $30 on groceries...$10 on CRAP!: I spent .10 yup that's 10 cents...ds wanted to use his Kernals g/c today and our order was .10 over:for dh for me
05-1.15 dh bought a coffee(but took his lunch) I spent 1.15 on a cookie for ds, it was the first time I've worked 2 days in a row in almost a year and it was hard on him
06-Worried about today..f-i-l just said that there's a family get together 2 hours away(so 4 hours total driving!) from 2-4. So I'm going to have to make lunch for the road/hope they take us out for dinner after...Doubt there will be many veg friendly foods there to nibble on and I *really* don't want to spend $ on take out!

Phooey. I really thought today would be a no-spend.

We ran out of stuff part way thru canning/freezing, and I had to go to the store to get a dozen eggs (breading for eggplant parm patties), a bag of flour (ditto), and more garlic.

Oh, well. We have 31 half pints of pizza sauce, 7 pints of ketchup, and 28 quarts of marinara. We have five eggplants, so that's.... a whole lot of eggplant parmesan, anyway.

We've spent $68 on food so far this month, and have put up 66 jars of food, so I think we've got a pretty good ROI already.

But this time of year is always so busy.

After this, all we have left to do for food preservation is freezing peppers and root cellaring apples, onions, potatoes, and green tomatoes (if we have them). So we're almost done, as freezing and cellaring is always less work.

Trying to turn hearts and minds toward universal healthcare, one post at a time.

Non-budgeted spend: :

Goals:
10/$250 Grocery Budget
35/$200 Rob's fun budget
0/$200 Chest Freezer Fund

1.
2. (gas)
3. : (Tums @ Walgreens...not feeling well) / $7.58 for dinner at work / $27.54 @ Wal-mart for a few things I've been wanting to get for the house (lock to keep our nephew out of our room, tool box so that we'll quit losing tools, and a wall calendar so that the bills will get paid on time every time) and deodorant for both SO and me. I also got some Reese's peanut butter cups but I had coupons for those so they were free plus overage!
4.
5. CC payment and $2.69 for dinner at work
6. drugstore/coupon shopping
7.

Today was a good day for me. All I spent was $2.69 for some stuffed shrimp at work (I get drinks and sides free). Rob and my sister made a stop at Subway on the way home from an employee meeting though. : Besides the fact that he brought us expensive pizzas when I have homemade crust in the freezer, my pizza was burned and soggy.

On a positive note, the manager from our local Walmart contacted me about an email I sent them because they have been routinely missing some of my coupons when I check-out. He has a $20 gift card waiting for me at customer service. I just have to go pick it up when I get the chance to go shopping before 11pm.

I am however, very excited. I painted those 3 wall hangings that I'd wanted to with the $8 paints from home depot and it turned out better than I'd hoped. I'm really excited and can't wait to get the one put back together and hung in our new house. If I can stop spending money so that we have money for closing and to move into our new house.

Planning to prep the dining room to paint it. I have primer and can do quite a bit before I need to spend money on paint.

Or I may just loaf and enjoy the weekend....

Sept 1 -- 9.30 library fines, 32.40 homeschool stuff
Sept 2 -- 2.07 post office
Sept 3 --
Sept 4 -- 9.54 movie
Sept 5 --
Sept 6 -- May spend or may just loaf around. Funny how my laziness is the cheaper choice.

September goals:

700.00/1100.00 savings
0/50.00 paint for dining room
48.36/600.00 groceries
0/100.00 dd's birthday

Frugal, food growing mama to my four loves

a. Who you are
I'm Aileen, married and part time stepmom to 11 year old dsd and 16 year old dss.

b. Where you are going (your financial goals)
Pay off remaining car loan of 6523.63 and remaining cc 2k. Build up 6 month reserve savings (still need to figure out how much this should be).

c. How you plan to get there
Watch my spending like a hawk - groceries especially and unnecessary purchases. Have already trimmed cell phone bill, landline bill and cable. Already have automatic draft from paycheck going directly into savings account.

Legend:
Budgeted spend
: Unnecessary spend
No spend

September
1.
2. purchased promo product in support of my niece's son's scouting. 40.62
3. : box of red wine, we were out 15.11
4. jumped the gun - it was NOT a no-spend day by the time late evening came around. i bought myself some GladRags (82.00) which one of the ladies were talking about on another thread. i've been thinking about abandoning disposable pads for years and finally decided to take the plunge so I worked it into the budget. i'm so excited!
5. budgeted purchases but still. i didn't want to have to spend this much! kroger 103.01 (this & whole foods includes NFC), whole foods 30.18 (i've cut way way down on my spending here, can't afford to go all organic), gas 22.22, thrift store & goodwill-5.92, cash from atm 40.00
6.

Going for a two hour run this afternoon during naptime...that won't cost any money and the car will certainly be resting.

I have a race coming up in three weeks.

And after the run today, I'll be too tired to spend any money. whew.

We've been going to the fair every day, but I'm leaving my wallet at home. For me it is amazing...if I have money, I WILL spend it. But when there is no money to be had, I enjoy the free stuff. Otherwise it is just a constant battle not to spend that money.

Jenny -- Way to go on the diapers! You are a diaper making machine

Baraka -- Thanks! I don't know what the 30 day shred is, but I'm glad to hear I'm on it. My hobby is long-distance running, so my legs are already pretty cut. They are happy to be walking instead of running.

Kim -- This IS a record for me. Five days without driving...I don't think that has ever happened before. Thanks for your support.

This challenge is all about YOU. We don't worry too much about partners. You can't control them, only lead by example. Great that you are joining us!

New goal: just keeping track for a month. Thinking about what I spend each day (and knowing I'll post it when I get home!!) has really affected my outlook on our spending! Thanks again!

1. <$20 @ Target for cabinet/drawer locks and some kid's toys. Gas for car & van. Also a few groceries. So, overall, a .
2. No driving, other than work. So, no spending!
3. Library & pediatrician (9mo well visit). No spending!
4. No driving other than work. No spending! Got almost 30 hours on this paycheck!!!!! :
5. Lots of driving, but I think I got all my errands run for now. <$40 @ Wally World, and now the bathroom is babygated.
6. $141.41 @ Sun Harvest!!:: + $11 for fancy coffee. :

I guess there's one good thing about being sick and feeling like total crap..... you're not going to go out and spend money when it's too much of an effort to even get dressed or comb your hair.
