I didn't spend today!!!! I am really feeling the pull to shop for new clothes. I just want something lovely to wear, something warm and soft, something unstained and flattering. Something other than my worn t-shirts.

Anyway, I went through the attic today and found a box of things I had put away when pregnant. I have lost the baby weight and was able to fit into 2 pairs of pants (one lovely pair and one around-the-house pair), a sweater and a couple of long sleeve T's.

It is a start and helped clear off some of the 'buy, buy, buy' hunger.

Now if I would just get out my sewing machine, I could sew a couple of pretty skirts and feel rather terrific while not spending any money.

And so it goes....my mantra keeps me focused...not buying it...not buying it..not buying it...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this! I just talked to DH about chirstmas and we're going to make DS a blanket, DD, a bag, and both the kids a toy box and the lid will have cushions so they can look out their window (something they LOVE to do). Now that I know I can start looking for things and making them now!

S-d D which made them three. M grew lonely, and now there's baby D.

10/12: $10.06 on Mothering and Kiwi @ B&N, $6.77 on a whisk and snacks at K-Mart, and $7.20 at Panera for a sandwich and lemonade.

Today was major stress induced shopping. My dad is moving back into my mom's house (mom is moving out), and I had to be around the two of them. At the same time. Wound up fighting with dad, and he lives with me atm so I went to the mall to avoid seeing him until he left for work. It'll be better starting tomorrow since he'll be in his own house.

You're welcome. I actually made a quilt like the one above from remnants that I had left over from other projects. Found a soft flannel blanket at the Goodwill and stitched it all together in a couple of evenings. We do a big family Yankee Swap style gift exchange and this is my gift this year and all I spent was $3 for the blanket.

I think the kids are going to get name banners and maybe a bag for collecting treasures and stuff. Homemade gifts rock!

Grrr...the medical bills keep pouring in. We had three trips to the ER this summer, several dr's appts and dh had gall bladder surgery. Co-pays and extras and more co-pays....yikes! My money set aside for savings is becoming less and less.

On the bright side -- my MIL dropped of a huge bag of Halloween candy to give out. We get upwards of 200 kids and I normally spend a lot on candy. This will really help out since we are expecting a huge turnout this year since Halloween in on a Saturday.

No spending today. Just cleaning, packing and organizing the attic.

10/1 BUT ran into a palm tree so must pay $500 insurance deductible next week when I take van to the shop. Grrrr.
10/2 $7.35 Little Caesar's pizza - but I was craving it for 2 weeks now and it was soooo good I can't regret it!
10/3
10/4
10/5 Paid electric bill.
Going to be a spending day because going on a day trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center (have annual pass). Planning to buy kids a dvd or cd of Poly music at the gift shop-been looking for one online for a while but can't find any, so I guess I have to bite the bullet and buy it brand new. The kids have been longing for one, so I don't feel bad. I'll give myself a for the day because we're packing our own dinner.
10/6
10/7
10/8 Target and WalMart splurges, spur of the moment party invite.
10/9 Don't know what to call this one - necessary, but dumb. Got van fixed for backing into palm tree. $500 deductible paid.
10/10 Spent $6 on a book I've been looking for! Border's 40% off coupon ROCKS!
10/11 BUT I will be putting in a LARGE glowstick order which is going over my entire Halloween budget. Grrr. And I will still have to buy treats.
10/12 Spent 58 cents today. Can I count that as a ?
10/13 $50 in glowsticks, $4 for Robeks smoothie for kids (and it was tiny)

My Key/Goals:
= no spend 5/10
= spent within budget
= frivolous spending
= eating out 2/3
$50/$35 Halloween supplies (costumes already purchased, this is only for treats and light sticks - enough light sticks to last us the entire year)

Akie, single mom to M (02/18/06), E (08/04/07) and Z (06/22/09)

Well, I found out my chiro is going to be at least partly covered by my work insurance, yay. And bought a $115 snowsuit for DD, boo. Snowpants alone would have been $89 so I just bought the whole thing, in case the $20 Old Navy jacket I bought last year at the end of season doesn't cut it. I bought it big so hopefully she'll get 2yrs out of it, and she chose red so the baby can wear it, boy or girl. I just can't get motivated to watch Kijiji for a week to see if anyone's selling something similar, and the kids' consignment stores are way out of my way. Time = $.

Hit the resale shop this morning and I found a wonderful, Landend coat for ds. It was 5 bucks!!! I am so thrilled. I also picked up a wooden bookcase for dd for $5. She is getting her own room this year and we have nothing but her bed to furnish her space. $10 very well spent.

10/12: $10.06 on Mothering and Kiwi @ B&N, $6.77 on a whisk and snacks at K-Mart, and $7.20 at Panera for a sandwich and lemonade.

10/13: Already marking it a no-spend day. Tomorrow is payday and first day of a cash system- wish us luck!
(We did wind up going to Subway, but still counting it as no spend because the money used was money that DH found floating down the street in a puddle!)

10/14: $11.49 on pizza, $2.58 on OJ and a donut. Woke up late for work, and now I have to go back overnight, so I was in no mood to come home and cook! At least the extra shift will more than make up for a pizza I guess?

Deni. I'm the liberal, Jesus-loving, hippie freak your mama warned you about. Expecting a cinco surprise, spring 2014!
