I think I did pretty good. We cleaned out the pantry, organized and also I was able to stock it pretty well. Next week with the Super Bowl, I can stock up on snackies on sale. Then as Easter approaches, I can stock up again on great deals. LAst year I scored pasta at 79 cents a pound and I bought 20 bags. It lasted until October!

I did ok. Ended up spending about $540ish and so I was $140 over budget. About $100 of that was for dog food. We are trying to fatten her up a bit so we added canned food along with her dry food. I had to buy again at the end of the month, but she'll have enough now to last into March. It was nice to use up the items from the back up the cupboards and clear everything out. Trying again for February.

I did ok. We went overbudget quite a bit, but part of that was due to DH being home and the budget being set too low. It was also due to my buying a few things just because I could , even though I didn't need them to help use up pantry goods.

On a good note:

I've started making more homemade breakfasts, and have finally perfected my healthy scratch pancakes.

I've started baking sourdough bread again, the first time in several years I've made the effort. I'd forgotten how yummy it is when still warm...mmmm.

I've dedicated myself to making February a NO grocery shopping month, all pantry meals and no dining out, and I think we can do it. We'll see how it goes.

i got a lot more creative with what i was making by having to use up food stocks. my ILs gave us apples and bananas, some cauliflower (still have), and some pears, plus most of the food my husband eats. so for me and dd, i spent $150 for the month, but $50 of that was on beef that will carry into next month and suet that i will render to use in cooking.

i think that if my ILs keep buying us fruit then next month could come in under $100.

Eh, not bad here, but def. could be better. I can't decide if it's a good thing that my dd works at a grocery store, or a bad thing, lol. Trying again this next month because we are totally stocked up again, and will be needing to make room for goat and more rabbits in the next month or two. I think I'm going to go down the road and ask if they have any lambs for sale on the hoof. We really don't eat much lamb, and would like to branch out a bit.

I'm wondering if our weather is going to cooperate for gardening this year, which will def. help our food spending.

This morning was leftover biscuits and gravy I made last night for my dh's lunch today. Tonight my oldest dd is making Greek--homemade pita (she's in a major cooking/baking mood lately), gyros (beef, not mixed w/lamb), tatziki (sp), and hummus. And bday cake for dessert if I get off my butt and make one (ds!).
