This is a support thread to help you ~not spend your money~.

Everyone is welcome to join and you can start tracking your spending at any time. It doesn't have to be May 1st. Now is a good time to start.

The plan is simple (although tough to execute):

1. Vow not to spend any money on unnecessary purchases.

2. Come on here everyday and record your spending.

We all record our spending in different ways. There are no rules. You record and update however you would like -- pick a way that will help you spend the least amount of money.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please write an introductory message when you decide to join our thread. We would like to know:
a. Who you are
b. Where you are going (your financial goals) and
c. How you plan to get there
Good luck MDCers!! Keep that money in your wallet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I hope nobody minds that I posted this, but I didn't see a new thread started yet.  I really need to get "back on the wagon" this month.  We just found out I'm preggo with #2, and we also had high car repairs and expenses associated with DSD and schooling in April.  Our savings is WAY lower than I want it.  We really couldn't have avoided any of it, and it's what our savings is there for, but I feel very uncomfortable.  We need to start saving for my mostly-unpaid maternity leave, as well as a few house projects that need to be done before our new LO arrives.

I'd like to spend nothing outside of the necessary this month.  DH is on-board, and I'll be using this thread to keep me accountable for what I'm spending.  I'd like to take my lunch to work 4 days out of 6 (eat.gif).  Also save at least $300 per pay period.

Me Me Me!  I am placing myself on a No Spend Challenge for May.  I actually started a blog about it.

May 1-got gas, doesn't count, got a drink at the gas station but spent NO money on it.  Used my gas station points so my drink was FREE

May 2-no money spent-got some chips, snack and cookies at work, using coupons and my employee discount they were FREE.

May 3-had to get a script, doesn't count.  While at the drug store, got toothpaste, deoderent, and a razor.  Was FREE using coupons and ECBs.

Hi, I'm Amber SAHM. May is going to be a crazy month for our family. We are closing on our first house on the 23rd, and preparing to move at the end of June. It feels impossible to budget this month, but I'm going to try. I hope to get through the month with enough $$ to do the things I need to do, a bit to spare would be great too. I'm going to need to really stick to a no-spend month in May (where possible). No eating out either, there will be enough of that during the real move in June.

5/3:irked.gif  100.95 at Target. Found items girl children will need for summer camp, bought baby shower gift for next weekend. Not all Unbudgeted, but I didn't expect to pick up the summer camp items, they were on sale though.

5/4:nono.gif Bought a present for DP at Amazon 29.88  (he deserves it - still, unbudgeted, unnecessary)

5/5:irked.gif  74.55 medical copays, wrist splint (still need to get rx), $247.20 dentist bill - way higher than I had expected greensad.gif. 50.39 Student Loan (darn darn darn. I had a plan to pay it off by the end of the year, but this is about $190 less than I need to pay this month to accomplish that goal - but, it's paid). 16.27 Groceries (easy food since my arm hurts). Crappy Day.

Can I join? idk how to do this... but we have blown through a lot of our savings lately and now have 2 vehicles with broken ACs, and have to fix them as we live in Georgia!!

So my goals are to spend as little as possible, build our savings back up while getting the ACs fixed in our vehicles, paying as much extra on mortgage as possible, planning a trip to see our family and putting $ aside to send ds to private school next year.

This month we have been doing alright. Haven't spent much on groceries, dh is realizing he needs to stop eating so much dang fast food, did spend $5 on my mom to round out her gift for mothers day, $3 on bubble bath for ds, they spent $10? on me for mothers day, I have shipping for co-op orders to pay this month (but already paid for the items), my birthday is next week and my moms is later in the month.

I guess I'll keep an eye on how everyone else does this and figure out how to track my spending.....

Oh, my name is Jen, I have a 4 yo and a 2 yo.

Jen - you can track however and whatever you'd like, so long as it works for you!  Basically, we're just a support group...  I find it helps me spend less if I'm going to be posting every little expense on the internet for the world to see!
