Good job, polyanna!

DH and I are trying to save money so DH can go through naturalization. Either he needs a $260 Canadian passport, good for 10 years, or go through naturalization of $680 and never have to deal with the Department of Homeland Security again.  Canada just changed their Canadian passport fees on July 1, 2013. Being able to travel back and forth to Canada is important DH, but $260 is crazy high for that and we are leaning toward biting the bullet and doing the naturalization. A U.S. passport is $140 for 10 years.

well all of that sounds expensive but how long does a Canadian passport last? because you can pay for the Canadian passport 3 times  for price of doing it the other way.

so the month is almost over and I still have 3 weeks til my next SL payment. I am trying to keep myself from raiding my EF to pay off the student loan. I know if I did that I would be without an EF and broke if anything came up. :( I just want these next 4 months to go by fast. :)

hope everyone else is doing well.

lilac a lot of new crunchy moms buy cribs and end up co sleeping and never using them. you might want to maybe start with a hand me down crib to see if you actually use it before you fork out big bucks for a nice one. might save you some money? just a thought.

Pollyanna, that is a great testament to your willingness to do whatever it takes to get out of debt. It reminds me of Dave Ramsey's words "Live like no one else, so someday you can LIVE like no one else." That day is coming for you where  you won't have debts hanging over your head to pay.

sounds like spam!!!!!!

My family just moved out of the RV and into a rental house. That's why I've been MIA. The rent is $1850 a month and I have to pay for all utilities. I got cable internet that was supposed to be $40 a month. A few days in they send me a bill for only 23 days not 30 and the bill is $105!!!!! I was wondering if any of you ladies have a suggestion for cheaper internet. It needs to be fast enough to stream video because we use netflix on the roku instead of cable.

For the last 15 years our health insurance was 100% covered by the union, all I had to pay was $20 for an office visit on occasion. Starting in January, thanks to all the healthcare reform, it's going to cost us $50 a week with a $600 out of pocket before insurance kicks in. After that we have to pay 15% of the bill.

Assuming none of us ever use the insurance it will be $200 a month but I have a few health problems so I'm screwed.

We just lowered our car payment by $200 a month to be able to move into this rental and still stay afloat, now that's going to go to insurance. Maybe I could switch auto insurance to try to make up some of that money? Any suggestions on a cheap auto insurance company?

Meanwhile, my work has been shafting me hours. They are afraid I will throw my back out again so I'm only getting 10-15 hours per week. And I'm back on BS1 because we used our savings to get into this house. The deposit alone was $2350 plus the first months rent brought it over $4000 move in. I hate how expensive it is here.

trekkingirl, I figured it was spam, it is the person's first post, and it was posted in the August thread, not the October thread.

I don't have any ideas on the cable. I would check with an "independent auto owners" insurance company. My insurance agent puts my information into some computer program and finds the companies that will give me the best deal on home owners and auto insurance.
