STILL sick and miserable. I'm sleeping horribly because of all the coughing, and I have no energy for anything beyond the bare minimum. I got the girls to and from our outing yesterday (and a quick trip to the library) and then conked out on the couch from 4:30 to 7:00, when DH called to ask what I'd made for dinner. We ended up at Cici's *sigh* Should be a no-spend day today, though, because I have to make this chicken before I lose it and because we're hunkering down and resting today.

HA!  Nope!  Got so hungry and cold during our outing I stopped by a favorite burger place and plopped down $17 w/tip on burger and onion rings, fries and a pop for me and the girls.  Big splurge, but somehow not feeling so guilty.

Tomorrow I will do more homework and studying.

I'm playing along with my own rules.  (Yea- someone always has to be a trouble maker!! might as well be me.  :duck)

I'm tracking spending before trying to make big changes due to a drastic salary drop.

Groceries last week-$352

random items- $27 birthday party gift, $5 toothpaste/brush, $88 birthday party gifts, $65 chicken feed, $5 postage, $95 school lunches for 2 kids  (Total-$285)

Groceries this week-$232

random- homedepot $30 (bunch of hooks for lamp, will return most of them!), $17 seeds and valentine stickers (total $47)

I didn't realize we spent that much on groceries.  I would have guessed closer to $200/week, not $300.

BUT..

I didn't take dd for a milk shake after she got a palate expander, like I wanted.  I sorta thought that at each new stage of orthodontia we would stop for a milk shake, like I did with my son,  I have two more kids starting treatment this month, and that would add up.  She didn't know she was missing anything.

We applied for, and got, a home equity line of credit.  Should close on it before the end of the month.  That will put $200K at our disposal for when DP's job changes and we are officially screwed!  It appears her income won't even cover the mortgage, never mind everything else!!

Me.  With 1 spouse, 4 kids, 16 chickens, 74 matchbox cars, 968,562+ legos, a dishwasher waiting to be emptied, a washing machine waiting to be filled and a lost cup of tea in the house.

No spending today. Cooked our chicken, which is now turning into broth. Have to look at my menu plan to see what's in store for tonight's dinner. I suspect I forgot to thaw something :eyesroll

I am sah homeschooling mom to 3 girls.
Our long term goals are to pay off consumer credit debt and have an 18 month emergency fund! Short term goal is to get my grocery budget down and to avoid using any credit cards. My girls have multiple food allergies so our grocery bill is insane.

How we plan to get there is by sticking to a strict budget to cut down on unnecessary spending. We are also considering moving to a much small apartment. We own a home in another city and have renters covering the mortgage. We are spending quite a bit for a rental house in the town my husband transferred to. I found a two bedroom apartment that will save us $400 in rent alone plus utilities will be less. I am nervous to squeeze us into such a small space but think it ,ought be worth it for a year or two if means we can get out of debt

Snowed in a for another day.  The roads are an icy mess, so I think we are staying here for the day.  My poor little town has been hit with so much snow this winter.   This is a very unusual year in an area that normally gets 1-2 inches of snow.  There is no snow removal equipment, so we are at the mercy of the weather.  We should be getting into the 40's today, so I am hoping we get some melting and can get back to school and work tomorrow.

Anyway, no spend again.

Bought some valentines candy cards for my son's daycare, it was budgeted. Also made some wonton soup... although next time I will use regular chicken broth, low sodium made the soup very tasteless even with soy sauce. Made a trip to the grocery store to grab a few things. Now it's time to work on my last 2 homework assignments so I can turn them in.

I don't have actual amount notes because I have totally fallen off the wagon the last few days. All I can say is things have been crazy since dh got home. I'm really hoping the income taxes hurry up and come in so I can get things in order and feel less stressed. On a good note though... I officially have my savings account opened up with its first transfer in so I guess that's a step in the right direction.

I did spend some money on Girl Scout renewals in prep for summer camp, but that was anticipated and budgeted. I wanted to have it out of the way online so I could mail in our camp registration more easily. Otherwise, we stayed in, watched the Olympics, rested, and did some schoolwork.

Oh my goodness, another snow day.  We dug out again and went to the library.   Headed to the pool after dinner for a free swim.  I am getting a little worn down entertaining my kiddos.   The snow is slush and it is raining now, so we are kind of stuck indoors.

No spending though, which is a Christmas miracle.  I would dearly love to take my little ones out to lunch, but am throwing together a meal for them.

After dropping my son off at daycare I decided to stop by target since it's on my way home. Scored 3 pairs of paints for $3.60 each and also had to get some school supplies($6). Today is my study day, so I will be studying for my quiz tomorrow and also completing some last minute assignments. I need to get better organized on completing my homework for my EMT class. Today I plan on having leftovers for dinner... need to make a meal plan for the week still.

Finally got my son to agree to swim lessons.   He had his first one last night and it went great, but his bathing suit was too small.  I ordered him a new one and a new tankini top for myself.   My old one is so thread bare, it is threatening to shred.   I found some good deals and got free shipping, so $44.50 for both suits.

I had a crummy day here, so I caved on dinner. It will come out of my allowance, so it's in the budget, but still not how I should be spending the money. Boo.

Man, I spent some money yesterday.  I was washing dishes and leaned over.....SNAP!   My last bra has officially died.  It is ridiculous that I only have one, but I was waiting for my 2 year old to wean before buying bras.  He seems to be set on nursing a while longer and I just can't wait.   I found an old, tight sports bra that I am wearing now and ordered a new bra off of Amazon.  If I like it, I am going to buy several more.

And I picked up a few groceries that dh had forgotten.

Yesterday I wrote checks for classes and summer camp, but those were all anticipated and budgeted for. Otherwise, no spending yesterday. Today DH bought the girls breakfast sandwiches (unbudgeted--I had eggs), and he'll be picking up some staples in advance of the coming snow (still have some space in the grocery budget). Tomorrow should be a no-spend, considering that we'll be trapped at home!

3.  :nod  Stuck at the ILs for an additional day due to snow

4.  shake.gif  Traveled home from ILs, budgeted gas & lunch, didn't budget for delivery pizza for dinner when we got home

12. :nod Spent the day prepping for a major snow storm, 4 loaves of bread baked, batch of crock-pot granola done, multiple loads of laundry done.  Bring on the SNOW!! :cold

Today was a no spend day, I still have 1/2 tank of gas but I will fill up the tank tomorrow. Today was my errands and study day. Went to the Mexican grocery store to get great deals on produce, only spent $20 in food stamps for a ton of fruits and veggies. Then headed to the library to pick up some books that were on hold, get to read the DR total money makeover. Then I did homework for 3 hours and lastly cleaned the house for a bit. Good day for me since I didn't spend anything and got 1 chapter of homework done.

I marked myself off all week while dh was here since we did have some unnecessary spending each day although most of the money we spent was budgeted/necessary. I'm paying bills again today but at least no extra spending. I'm glad we haven't gone over budget but it's been a crazy week with lots of unexpected popups. This is obviously going to be a terrible month for me on this challenge. Hopefully next month will be better
