There's been frugual living threads since I've started doing MDC. It's hard to have just one thread because the discussion goes in so many different directions so fast! Is there room for a forum for Frugal Living? I think a forum like this would do really well. I'll volunteer to be mod, if it'd help
Is this something doable?

I agree. I would love to see a forum. The Fruagal Mamas thread is like 16pgs long right now, and it's jumping from topic to topic. It's difficult to follow just 1 topic. I'd love to get other insights and suggestions from mamas who live frugally w/out having to search a thread

Just another mama in support of a Frugal Living Forum.

Frugal living is quite an umbrella topic that encompasses many aspects -- finances, savings, household tips, food, personals, children's items, cooking, diy... I think it would be worth it to have one forum to look for advice and ideas instead of waiting for a monthly thread that is up to (at this point) 16 pages and 3800+ views. It seems like the need has been demonstrated.

Mama to 9 so far:Mother of Joey (20), Dominick (13), Abigail (11), Angelo (8), Mylee (6), Delainey (3), Colton (2) and Baby 8 and Baby 9 coming sometime in July 2013.   If evolution were true, mothers would have three arms!

I think a frugal living forum would do good...lots of mamas with frugal tips out there! We need a place to share lots of different ideas without getting lost in a huge thread. Good idea!

Yes yes please! The mega-thread, while fun to participate in, is not very user-friendly.

Namaste!

I support a forum for family finances - not specifically to frugal living (although gals you know I love our threads!). Think of it as a place where frugal living could call home.

I think a more open ended finance forum is needed because there are many a discussion on mothering about money. Everything from home buying and selling, the get out of debt clubs, budgeting, and frugality.

Oh please oh please Cynthia!

Either type of forum -- frugal living or finances -- sounds good to me. There definitly seems to be a need for it. Finances are a huge part of all our lives & in my opinion very much a part of AP. After all, aside from how our kids turn out, what's a bigger reflection to the world of your values than how you spend your money?

Yes. Or it could be finances in general with subforums:
Budeting
GOOD (The debt thread from personal growth)
Frugal cooking

Stuff like that. I too would be willing to be a mod. You just have to give me the 411 on the job.

Another idea would be to have the main forum: Home Management

Sub forums
Frugality

Finances (could include GOOD)

Meal planning (could include pantry challenge)

Decluttering/Organization (many threads in personal growth/tribes/or talk)

Looks like there will be no response. I am sure you wil just have to find another forum. Try natural home & body. Wait that won't work cause it isn't about natural stuff necessarily. Personal growth? Nope. TAO? Prob.

Hi Diaper Jen,
Give Cynthia some time. She is always super busy and forums need time to be reviewed with Peggy.

Come to think of it.......they may do a periodic review, so that all ideas are reviewed together at once.

Let's go back to twiddling our thumbs wink wink. I am sure an MDC person will drop by soon to give us some info.
