I just found $1.09 for my brother, in Hawaii... I did find about $140 for my grandma about 5 years ago, in a joint account she had with her mother, who died before I was born. Too bad they stop paying interest after 7 years...

Thanks for the link Tracy. I just did this in my maiden name and it tells me that I have more than $100 owed. What the heck? I have no idea what this could be from, and honestly I'm a little spooked by it. I keep thinking of those stings where they tell criminals that they won free tickets, just come pick them up and get arrested! I filled out the claim form so we shall see what comes!

I used the link a few months back and we got a check recently for dh for about $75. It was a credit from an old phone account. It did feel odd to fill out the paperwork, but the check was real.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for this thread. DH had a claim for more than $100 listed. It turned out to be $136 from something related to health care: we don't know for sure because the State of Illinois doesn't give much info on the original amount and where it came from. But all it took was filling out a form and having it notarized (for free) at the bank.

Just bumping in case folks haven't seen this lately.

By property they mean mean possesions which are usually money, but sometimes safe deposit boxes, not property like land.

I have been trying to get mystery money owed to me for years, but because the addresses over my lifetime don't match the address for the lost money, they won't give me any information or release it to me. I have filed the official forms but have been denied.

I have no idea if it is $50 or something significantly more becuase the amount is not listed. But I happen to be the only person with my name in the town I grew up in and one of a handful of people with my name in the entire country (there are literally less than 12 of us).

What the buracracy fails to account for is that if they had any of the addresses right, I would have gotten the mail/missing money the first time around .

So, told my MIL about this and she said to enter here name. Nothing in NC, so we look in HI where she used to live and we found...

TWO THOUSAND FORTY DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-FIVE CENTS!!!!! for HER!

She is sending in the verification papers tomorrow. Isn't that freakin crazy!!!!

I found money under both my in-laws names. There was money under mil's deceased step mother's name. FIL's 3 brothers and a nephew had unclaimed money. The only money I found on my side of the family belonged to a second cousin's deceased mother. None of the findings had $ amounts.

We called one uncle who knew about the money said it wasn't worth his while to go through the whole process to claim $138.

Thanks for our entertainment this evening!

Hmmm...what's odd is I searched my married and my maiden name...and found a listing for someone with my first name, middle initial (that's all that was given) and maiden last name, and last known address in a city that I lived in a few years ago....but I don't recognize the address, and the money is from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and I've never had them, I had TRICARE at the time. Weird coincidence!

Wow, I didn't expect this to happen, but DH and I are owed something (under $100, amount not specified) from our old insurance company. I wonder if we overpaid them years ago or something? I sent off the forms and we'll see. I wish I could find out the exact amount - it might be a lot of work to go to for a $2 rebate, you know? But anything more than a couple of bucks would be worth it.

I didn't find any money owed to anyone, except for the person who stole my dad's identity...well I guess its technically my dad's money then? Who knows..

I did find someone with the same name as my daughter - first and middle, and my maiden name. Odd coincidence. At first I thought my 7 month old struck it rich, until I noticed it was my maiden name, LOL.
