Ds was underfoot today while I was trying to get the garden patch mulched, so I dragged a 4x6 beam (about 6 feet long) onto the lawn, put a brick on its flat side under each end & told him to walk on it. He was thrilled! Later he asked me to put another set of bricks under it to make it higher. I might haul in some cinderblocks later if he wants to be a daredevil -- more stable than an ever-growing stack of bricks, KWIM?

The beam was part of the big stack of lumber that was here when we moved in (some of it usable, most not). The bricks were salvage I picked up for the garden. Ds walks on the 4" wide side of it but when dd wanted to try it I flipped it over so she could walk on the 6" side.

Who would have thunk it, though?
