I was thrilled to find a Vera Bradley duffle bag at the thrift store for $3.95. I bought it thinking I could sell on Ebay or give to my MIL. Well, I was thrilled and surprised that it sold on Ebay for...$92.00!

At Goodwill yesterday, I found a few nice things for dd for this fall (just in time, too, we're finally getting fall weather!):
white nautica ribbed button-up sweater, 2T for $.99
pink fleece pullover $.99
Gymboree 2T sweater $.99

I was happy about those deals

I found a book on Hypnobirthing today-got it for a quarter and it should sell for around $9 on half.com! I'm definitely frequenting the thrift shop more!

I have seen some of that at second hand stores too though when it comes to top or designer brands. Sometimes I have found that I can get things cheaper new off the discount rack at my local children's boutique or on eBay.

For middle of the road brands though, you can't beat second hand stores. I have bought so many nice things for my daughter at the ones around my house.

OK, I'm a hs mom so maybe these finds won't impress you as much as they did me. The last yard sale I went to had a crazy ammount of books. I've packed some away in the not this year box and there were so many I can't even remember them all. Some of the titles were Prima Latina, Usborne Book of World History, Children's Homer, Drawing with the Left Side of the Brain etc.. Anyway - when I totalled it up it came to $350 if I paid retail. I spent $10. I might not use them all, but can certainly sell them on ebay for more than the 10 cents or so that I payed for them.

Good grief, andi!

I thrift once a week and stick to the dollar-an-item options at Salvation Army. I'd be happy to keep my eyes open for things you need, if you'd like. Ann Arbor's got a lot of money and it shows in the kid clothes at the thrift stores. Lots of EUC stuff, nearly all of it name brand, and everything gets rotated into the 5/$5 weekly deals, including Gymbo and Hanna.

Okay, I just remembered this one that I found last fall.....
an original Bonnie Cashin (one of the original Coach designers
http://www.library.ucla.edu/special/...nniecashin.htm ) jacket, with bright red wool lining, in brand new perfect condition. Whoever owned it, must have treasured it enough to store it well for 40 years, and probably her estate left it for the thrift store. My mom currently uses it .

I had been wanting a backpack that doesn't look like the typical sporty style book bag. And I found an Eddie Bauer leather backpack for $8.99, yesterday . Also found some gap jeans for ds, gymboree shirt, and window fan for good prices.

$25 for a 'signature item' seems like good money spent. I have a blouse/jacket that I bought for $30 from Dillards' clearance center several years ago. Even then it was a lot of money for me to spend on a 'shirt.' But it's versatile and I always get comments when I wear it.

I haven't read this whole thread so sorry if this is a repeat, but baby clothes! Our local salvation army store has a huge kids section. I went yesterday and it was a 50% off sale on all green tags. I got 3 sleepers, 3 one piece outfits, and 2 shirts for dd all for $1 each! They are all in excellent condition. I buy all of her clothes there. That way, when she outgrows them after only wearing them once, I don't care! I can splurge there and not feel bad. I love it!

I'm sooo jealous of all the great finds! We have one lowly Goodwill here and I've never found anything good there...they have a bin of maybe 2-3 baby items...ugh...I really need baby items and can't find any at thrift store prices.

It's awesome that you guys have such neat places to shop!

yeah even in my city, finds vary hugely from store to store...

anyway i've been turning up motherlodes in some stores.. i've accumulated a massive wardrobe of cuties for baby-to-come, all under $2 apiece, some for a few cents!
lots of the cutest rompers, Ts, cardi jackets, hats, and lots of basic singlets..
and i found a baby bathtub for $3.. it seems to be a suitable design..

I had some ME time yesterday....grabbed a Starbucks and headed to Goodwill! It was GLORIOUS to be able to wander without bored kiddos in tow. The Goodwill prices around here seem to be higher than other places, but I got:

Long sleeve Gap t-shirt $3
New York & Company corduroy pants $5
A very pretty Lapis skirt $5
Land's End striped tee for dd1 $2
Limited Too tee for dd1 $2
Carter's pants for dd2 $1
Adorable vintage coat for dd2 $3
Really cute handmade pumpkin costume $2
Hideously ugly authentic 70's bell bottoms for my halloween costume $5
Shirt to match $3
Gymboree bib, new with tags $1

Not bad! And I had fun and felt refreshed!

Arm's Reach Original Co-Sleeper with three sheets for $5.50.

Ok, so it's missing a few parts. Like all the parts that make it a co-sleeper/bassinet and not just a playyard But even buying the replacement parts new brings the total up to $75, which is still a good deal for what it is.

But the initial high was sure fun!

DS born 6/03, DD1 born 9/06, DD2 born 10/10, DD3 born 4/14.

$185.50 directly from the website, with a high resale value - $75 would be about the minimum I'd expect to pay used.

DS born 6/03, DD1 born 9/06, DD2 born 10/10, DD3 born 4/14.

I usually only have 10 mintutes a week to look, I stop by on my way home from work when DH does not have class. This month I have gotten a pair of J crew khaki's for work ( $3), Express editor pants ( $3) and a pair of sonoma jeans for DD ( 1.5). The editor pants alone are $ in the store. Both of the pants were size long too.
