Ohhhh Mrs.kennedy you called me mama! I've never been called that before

I kinda suck this week at no spending : I was going to stop at the grocery store and get some frozen pizza for like $5,but it was closed. So I tried to order from Dominoes, but he couldnt get the order right so I called my usual place and they messed up!Over an hour went by and I noticed a message on my cell, they apparently have to call and confirm the address for all new customers (I'm house sitting so that means new customer). I said some nasty things and then called Dominoes back. I knew I shouldn't have but I did. I guess the one good thing that came out out it is that I will no longer order from the usual place and that will save me $$$$$ b/c I order there a lot!!

I did put $50 on the BIG credit card and $10 on my electric bill though!

Ok so I am jumping in here because we are in trouble...

My name is Cheryl & I am a SAHM to 2 young boys, & recently also became a medical transcription student. DH's job is tied to the the houseing market & since that is going down the tubes so has his commissions. I am here because on average we are bringing in about $1000 less a month than we were & I have nothing to spent, but haven't quite faced the reality yet. So I am trying to guilt myself out of spending anything that isn't 100% necessary & that includes groceries (we have fairly well stocked cabinets, just need fresh stuff) & gas money too, so I won't drive too much.

Anyway today is 8/11 & I guess I get a as we didn't spend anything, but we did drive an hour each way to a babyshower, however the gift only cost me $2.00 as it was mostly leftovers from DS2

Cheryl, wife to an amazing man, homeschooling SAHM to Gavin 12/03, Rhys 09/06, and Ian Aug 11, 2010.

Thanks. My mom is a really great lady and we are all expecting her 15 year battle with cancer is a couple forms to come to a close fairly soon. :

About car insurance in advance- I hate monthly bills with a passion so I pay every 6 months unless we are flat, flat, flat broke which thankfully has not been the case for a long time. It helps that we only have 1 car and our rates are pretty low.

I need to buy The Mood Cure by Julia Ross in ebook form (with DS around I don't have time to scan printed books and can't read them without scanning, also know this one wouldn't scan well), but I'm not bying it until Sept. when it's budgeted. Of course, that means I'll have to suffer with this (UA violations!) depression and such, but I'll be able to pay the oil bill too, without help from BIL this time. I really don't know which is more important, but I do know only I can really decide it. We'll see, and I'll keep you all posted.

Aug 1-
Aug 2- $34 for lunch for 4, expected expense (all day at hospital with mother for her cancer treatments)
Aug 3-
Aug 4-
Aug 5-
Aug 6-
Aug 7-
Aug 8-
Aug 9- : EGADS. See below. Some planned, some not.
Aug 10-

August 9th, August 9th. What to say of August 9th. So we have been taking out nephew to the batting cages and that is an expected cost. Since we were finally out of tokens, I bought $15 more which should last through the end of the month. But like I stated in my first post, entertaining my nephews and niece while they are staying here was planned. Then we went and I paid $100 for 10 baseball tickets for the whole family ($10 ticket night) of which I will see about $40 back from those that I was not covering the cost for. But while at the team store I got my niece a little hat for $5 and my husband a shirt for $18. The shirt for my husband (by way of explanation, not excuse) is that we have been looking for a Mariners shirt my metrosexual, well dressed husband would wear. We go to a lot of games as a family and wear our hats etc. My husband would never, ever be seen in a hat. And the shirt was perfect with a small logo, raglan sleeves, right color and on sale. Oh well. It will be legendary with my family that I managed to find him a shirt and does not bankrupt us by any stretch.

But then, my husband used a portion of his savings (which is separate from my savings, our savings and our various checking accounts) to buy a Wii. A Nintendo Wii. He grew up with games and has not had a new system or even played much at all since college ( college age 18 so 10 years ago, not his school now ) and with my 12 year old nephew around he decided it was a good idea. Frankly, for all the fun the nephews, niece, him, our son, my brother and his husband have had on it, I can't say I mind all that much. Besides as a child of the 80s I LOVE old school Mario. I was flabbergasted because he, like me, is usually very cautious with spending any money. He thinks it was because it was a treat for my nephew but I know better- he wanted it. But total damage was $414. Oy. Not a spend nothing month. But also not my money. Excuses, excuses, I know.

So we are still on track with our main accounts and have come in way under what I feared on groceries for 8 and we have a mostly happy house of 8 people and well entertained and adjusted to a new state niece and nephews. Still longing to have my house for just my family of three but glad also that we have been able to help my brother's family. And they will be gone soon.

Oh...those are sooo much fun! (Better than old game systems, they at least make you move a little!) I told DP that when DD is older we'll get one because they're entertaining and they help with hand/eye coordination much better than older gaming systems!

Aug 12- $20.00 on gas for the beach truck, $20.00 on sodas, snacks, and transmission fluid so the beach truck would run properly, $10.00 on sunscreen for the beach...but spending all day on the beach w/ family in cooler, sunny skies, and crystal clear water, was SO worth it!!!

Would anyone feel any better if I told you all that we wrote out two tuition checks in double digits this week, but have been eating out of the freezer and garden? And thank goodness for the chicken eggs??!

I hope so. Little children, little bills, bigger children bigger bills.

Now, no more Starbucks for anyone! Get a little coffee bean grinder. You are going to need all your pennies for the future!

Little Robeez $28.99. Tall coffee $3. College tuition? Priceless.

August 10 - home all day, no spending

August 11 - planned outing to shop for books with friend for later resale on ebay & Amazon. Spent $5 at library sale, $2.05 at one thrift shop, $3.15 at third. $5.30 lunch, $15.50 total

August 12 - Trip to neighborhood thrift shop to look for books with dh. I found several but dh paid so I didn't spend anything, ditto the second errand to Walgreens to get items from their coupon page & a few other items.

Now, if some of these books will just sell fast on Amazon it will be great!

August 10 $15 lunch w/friend + Taxi. I TOTALLY feel off the wagon. I had a meeting this afternoon so I had to take a taxi because I didn't schedule my time well, totally my fault. Lunch was not budgeted but it felt really nice to eat out with this particular friend, she always makes me

August 11 $50 - Took cash out of the ATM for Saturday - Wednesday. We didn't budget for it and we didn't exactly need it. It was silly ... adjusting to no spend is hard.
