I spend a huge amount on groceries today and bought another round of yoga classes as well as put gas in the car. Whew! It was quite a spendy day, to say the least. I still am planning on going to Costco with my FMIL on Saturday, too. Man, I am so terrible at budgeting.

We are going to be gone for the next three days but I will try to pop in if I can. We have had computer issues since last Friday, too, so I'm not able to be online as much as I usually am. I'll try to catch up with everyone next week!

My mom is in town and bought us a bunch of groceries today, as well as some kid's toys. I had told her she didn't need to and we have lots of food, but she insisted, so I didn't argue. She also paid for lunch out. I ended up paying for a movie rental but that's not bad considering. I do think with her being here and wanting to go out a lot, I'll have to fill up sooner than I'd hoped, but that's okay.

November
1: $190 Diapers, $9.74 Shipping for baby purchase made in Oct, $38.50 Gas
2:
3: $121.60 Costco, $6 Dollar Store spices, $33 Grocery Store, $25 Filing Cabinet from Craig's List so we can get organized in our home office finally!
4: $2.00 Movie rental
5: $10.60 Breast Pads
6:
7: $6.94 hot chocolate and a tart at a cafe meeting another MDC Mom
8: $12 for movie rental

Goals:
0/$300 Christmas
$160.60/$500 Groceries
1/4 Grocery Shopping Trips
$9.04/$50 Take out/Ordering in
$49.60/$100 Misc
$199.74/$200 Baby Items
1/2 Gas Fill Ups
$250/$500 put towards debt
8/30 Stick to meal plan

Well, it was a crap day, but I didn't spend that much. The babysitter had made mac and cheese when I got home, so I ate the leftovers. I thought for sure I'd splurge for pizza b/c it was such a down day, but yay for us!

AND - my parents are gone for the weekend, so I feel pretty relaxed right now. We have the house to ourselves until at least Sunday. I have to work tomorrow, but I don't think we have to leave the yard (I work just across the street from the house - I can even walk).

I did make arrangements for a babysitter to come Saturday evening. I'm going to go do something not work or kid related by myself for the first time in a long time. It feels like necessary spending, it really does. Maybe a movie? I may ask this guy to come with me, I don't know.

11/1: No Spend!!
11/2: No Spend!!
11/3: : 5.39 at Taco Bell... oops!
11/4: No un-budgeted spending...
11/5: No Spend!!
11/6: : spent WAY too much.... 113 @ Gamestop and 41 at Target... technically some of the Gamestop money was part of DF's xmas gift that we forgot Sunday... and I needed bras and some toiletries.. but STILL!! I think about 70 of what we spent was necessary/budgeted....
11/7: No un-budgeted spending... I bought a pair of jeans (my pre-preg ones will NOT button anymore), a white long sleeve (I got a bunch of short sleeve/no sleeve maternity shirts for free and with the shirt I can layer and still wear them during the winter) and a pair of pajama pants for my mom whose birthday is today
11/8: I did spend 50 dollars on maternity clothes but that got me a pair of black pants, a pair of khakis, a pair of jeans and 15 shirts that I can wear to work!!!

I had my first day of work today, well I had orientation and training anyway, hence the need to get some work appropriate clothes that actually fit!!! I think spending about 2.75 per item was great though and I am now set till this kid decides to vacate. We also kept my DF at under 200 dollars this week!!!

Goals:
Keep DF at under 200 cash a week: 1/4
Eat at home: 7/25
No online shopping: 8/30
No spend days: 6/25

It was a so-so day for me. I did do a little frivilous spending- kinda. My kids decided to raid the fridge and eat the lunches I'd packed for BREAKFAST. So that left them with nothing to bring with us to homeschool co-op. We were crunched for time, so I decided to go through the drive-through. I skipped out on the kiddie meals, fries and drinks, though- so it was pretty cheap. Also went to the grocery store and stayed mostly to the list and came in under budget.

Nov. 1- $13.32 at Natural Foods store
Nov. 2- $37.85 on pizza delivery
Nov. 3-
Nov. 4-
Nov. 5-
Nov. 6-
Nov. 7-
Nov. 8- $10.57 on fast food lunch (not budgeted), $17 on gas, $210.46 on groceries.

My goals:
Lunch out with DH: 0/2
Stay within 15 miles of home: 6/24
No frivolous spending: 6/30
Track Grocery spending: $221.76
Track Eating out/take out spending: $48.42
Track gasoline spending: $17
Track spending/income on chickens: $2.02

But we still have 3 bills unpaid from this paycheck, 1 of which will automatically be coming out tomorrow or the day after leaving us with $15 until payday and 2 unpaid bills. I just don't understand how, why. No other month have we had any problems paying all of our bills plus having a tiny bit extra, i don;t even have anything left of the $250 I stocked in to savings. Where did it go? How did it just disappear like that?

I think Anniej had a good idea- tracking ALL of your spending is a good way to get a handle on where your money is going. You may be surprised at where your money is going, or you may just have been hit with a bunch of one-time expenses all at the same time.

If things are really tight and the order would put you over your budget, I'd suggest to just skip it this time. Surely you can find less expensive healthy snacks for your kids.

I think that if you can swing it, this will be money very well spent.

1: Only budgeted spending, including holiday gifts and groceries
2:
3: Spent 21 of my blow money to go to movies. Resisted tempation to but some Ugg-like boots. They were within my budget, but made in China. That always seems to be the case.
4: groceries; resisted urge to eat out at my favorite place! Also resisted the cutest purse from etsy!!
5: Brought food in TWICE today, but we were all sick. It came out of our eating out budget, so we'll have to skimp toward the end of the month in this category.
6.: Didn't follow my cash only rule...used my debit card to purchase something budgeted on etsy, but I didn't deposit it into bank yet...I will today.
7. : Still haven't put that cash in. See, this is how I end up dwindling our reserves in account...
8. : Ditto

Someone please kick my fanny into gear!!!

* My plan is to stick to perimeter in grocery and only go once a week and use a list.
* Try to live by the mantra, "Less is more."
* Use only cash. Only use my debit card for gas. If I purchase something online I will go to bank FIRST and deposit the cash.
* Only buy things (things we need) that are on sale and a GREAT deal or cannot wait.! (Other than groceries)

Goals:

No unbudgeted spend days: 8/20
No grocery days: 6/24
Only cash days (debit card for gas): 5/28

KEY:
True no spend
Spending within budget
Spending outside budget

Nov 1
Nov 2 $16.05 coop shipping from an oct coop
Nov 3 grocery shopping $148, ate out, and lowes
Nov 4
Nov 5 target $53 (cat & dog food, kitty litter, cereal), dinner out
Nov 6 paid part of kids gym class for spring
Nov 7 $4 public swim w/ dd while ds had lessons, $3.25 treat after since ds passed his class and it was last day.
Nov 8

no spend

No credit card use 8/29 (1 day needed to finish christmas shopping)
No paypal use 7/28 (need to pay shipping for oct coops)
no spend days 3/15
no clothing shoes bought for kids and I 8/30
Stay out of target 7/30

Took my vacuum in yesterday to see if it could be fixed. The place called last night and it was just the power cord that was broken. So it will only cost $24.99 for the part and $10 labor. I am so relieved - thought for sure I'd have to buy a new vacuum. Not vacuuming is NOT an option

My last coop from Oct was shipped and I got a refund since one of my items was out of stock. Decided to stick w/ the chico bags coop. Stores around here give $0.05 to $0.15 back when you bring your own bags. I have a couple so I know I'll use them - so they will eventually pay for themselves.

Alright, today's off to a good start. Had a phone appt with my therapist and I would normally get coffee, but I made a big pot at home (and splurged on some cool creamer yesterday at the store) and drank that instead.

I'm definitely going to to movies and said guy said yes, so that's exciting.

I plan to take the kids on a hike today, and I already invited my grandparents over for dinner, so should be no spend!

Once again, started the day off with some spending. I'm getting really, really down.

Nov 1: $30 charitable giving, from checking; $11 Savers gifts, from checking; $2 Pepsi, from cash; $15 co-op groceries, from joint; $4 library fines, from cash. All w/in budget.
Nov 2: $35 Xmas gift for my partner, from checking, w/in budget; $2 Goodwill, cash. All w/in buget.
Nov 3: $8 McDonalds, cash; $13 Goodwill, checking; $168 art show, joint; $25 pizza, cash; $20 dog fee, cash (will be reimbursed). Art show clearly not budgeted...
Nov 4: $55 dog food, $33 groceries, both joint.
Nov 5: Gah! It was almost a no-spend, but then I had to get gas. $36, on gas card (gets paid by joint acct. each month). In budget.
Nov 6: Today is going to sound really bad, but it's not that terrible. I spent $850 on Visa to make Thanksgiving reservations, but that will be reimbursed. I also spent $11 joint on some dishes at the Goodwill and $6 on lunch. And $20 on sterling silver chains, partially for me and partially for a Christmas present, from checking.
Nov 7: $35 on a book for myself online, from checking, not budgeted; $5 on a flu shot and $5 on coffee, cash.
Nov 8: $33 co-op, groceries, from joint.
Nov 9: $8 at pharmacy for Mark's drugs (he's sick); $10 on kolaches, joint; $33 groceries, joint; $23 Etsy, from money in Paypal.

November budget update:

To joint account: $2,000/$2,000.00
To student loan: $0/$257.60
To savings: $0/$100.00
To charity: $30/$50.00
To Visa: $212.26/$184.20
To Discover: $0/$500.00
Cash: $75/$100.00
Christmas presents: $79/$100.00
Unbudgeted spending: $35/$0

November goals:

1. STICK TO BUDGET!! 7/30
2. No new credit card purchases, aside from Christmas plane tickets. 8/30
3. Finish closing out all old CC accounts (I think I may have a big enough credit to buy said plane tix, but I'm not sure).
4. Continue excellent trend of not buying coffee or lunch at work. Aim for no more than 1 coffee/week and 1 lunch/week. 8/30
5. Thrift for Christmas presents.

November budget update:
Some months are like that - no matter how hard you try, stuff just keeps coming up. Sounds like you aren't being wasteful with money, so just keep doing what you have to do!

Thank you very much for the help I am learning a lot from this thread.
