I am sorry you are going through that. I know the feeling though, my front teeth broke when I was a child and I have always had either bonding or veneres, and it is very embarassing to have a tooth broken and you always want to get it fixed ASAP

November 1 - No spend day
November 2 - about $12 in budgeted spending today.
November 3 - No spend day
November 4 - only budgeted spending today
November 5 - did a bit of budgeted spending today
November 6 - unplanned breakfast purchase today - went out for fast food for dinner, but that was a planned playdate
November 7 - sad face already - couldn't resist the smell of those nice hot bagels
November 8 - Very bad day again. Spent on food and a multitude of other items
November 9 - I have to do better this weekend
November 10 - Giving myself a smiley for the day even though we ordered in dinner (I put it in the grocery spend budget). I spent the entire day decluttering and got rid of a ton of junk so I deserved a little treat.
November 11 - a really good day. Almost a no spend but had to pay for some budgeted postage.
November 12 - Spent a ton of money today buying the rest of the stuff to finish the powder room we have been renovating for 5 months. This was budgeted and I am very excited to see how it will look when it is all done. Did a bit of other spending but it was all within budget with the exception of my coffee & bagel this morning. But, I figured since it was my big day out without the kids I would treat myself :

This has been a pretty spendy month so far (even though a lot of it was budgeted). Really gotta ease up on the discretionary spending since I only have 6 weeks of work left.

$277.31/$400 Groceries (this is quite a bit less than we normally spend, but really want to eat out of the pantry/freezer this month)
$55.47/$50 for misc coffee, snacks, lunches out etc. :
$15.98/$50 misc stuff for kids
$45.25/$50 toiletries/cleaning supplies
No spend 2/10
No restaurant/take-out 6/20

I know what you mean... I went over budget on Christmas presents b/c I got DH the keyboard he needs and some bday presents for DS and sis.
Fortunately we have the rest of the month left... We just have to make sure it's as no-spend as possible. Good luck!

I have money in a paypal account from stuff I sold on Ebay. If I transfer that to my banking account will I get charged anything?

Also, I know there are a million threads, but does anyone have a quick idea for Christmas gifts for a 14 year old boy and a 14 year old girl who have EVERYTHING? I want to get them something for Christmas, but we are on a tight budget.

It depends. If your account is already on PayPal, then no. If you need them to cut you a check, they charge you some small amount. I can't remember what it is.

Gift cards.

Tie dye (which you can trade for with me, if you'd like...).

Oh, also? Gift cards. Or straight-up cash.

I was going to say gift cards for experiences not things. Like a GC to the movie theater near them or a GC for a local cafe or something. We usually give gifts like this to my son's friends.

KEY:
=true no-spend
=spending within the budget
=out of budget spending

We spent Fri-Sun out of town. It was relatively great other than the terrible $45 Mexican dinner we got during the drive. I hate that when we spend a ton of money on a dinner and it's not even good . I spent $168 at Costco on Saturday, but I only go maybe once e/o month, so although it put us way over in the grocery dept, it is worth it in the long run (I hope!). We only bought gas on the way home yesterday and a few things for dinner for friends. Today should be an actual no spend at all day, yippee!

I am way behind in the threads, so I'm just going to try and catch back up from this point on. Sorry if I missed anything big!

I'm not going to bother finding my list to update, but suffice it to say that this month has exploded in a very bad way. We've just been hit with a large unexpected expense, the $500 I thought was a credit on my CC was not, and I'm in a bad state of things tonight.

I quit.

I'm so sorry. But keeping track of things from here on out can only help you feel some modicum of control. I hope things get better soon.

DS is teething and has been in melt-down mode a lot lately. That combined with very little sleep on my part almost led me to do a little self-comforting with a Starbucks coffee or a whole lotta chocolate from the drugstore. I did not do either. I was very proud of myself!

I am going to bed soon and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. (Though not no-spend, since we need to go grocery shopping, drop things off at the post office, and get a few things at the hardware store.)

10/1: $12.60 flowers for my mom's birthday
10/2: $23.23 gas for the car + $62.17 actual groceries at the farm ($25 raw milk, $8.38 ham slices & $28.79 raw cheese) + $10.58 treats at the farm ($2.73 chocolate bar, $3.90 granola bars & $3.95 egg nog)
10/3: $14.50 entrance to the zoo + $2.65 for candy
10/4:
10/5:
10/6: $36.67
10/7: $8.86 groceries
10/8: $5 Drano for our plugged kitchen sink
