Sigh. I'm going to drop out this month. I just can't seem to staunch the spending. It's not showing up here because it's going on the credit card (which I will pay off after Christmas, but I really should be paying off as I charge).

Next week, when DH is home all week and Christmas is over I will work on January's budget and make some financial goals for ourselves. And I will come back in 2008 with a vengeance.

Until then, I wish all of you luck.

Formerly New Mama to Henry, born August 2005 and Silas, born November 2010.

I think this is a really tough month. We've lost folks and I have noticed that not as many of us are on here as much.

We'll all be back together next month, right? Enjoy your holidays, mamas!

Dec. 17:

There is definitely an air of financial futility to my December; doing fairly well avoiding frivolous spending, but unplanned, but necessary, big-ticket items keep popping up, that make my little savings pale substantially in comparison. Today's case-in-point: mouse-damaged wiring replacement will take the electrician 3-4 full days to replace, to the tune of $50+/hr + materials (with a 30% mark-up). Trying to readjust my thinking here and focus on gratitude: would MUCH rather incur any financial cost and know my family is safe than unknowingly live with dangerous wiring!

GOALS:
* Less than $100 in frivolous spending: month to date $35
* At least 25 days (no spend or spending w/in budget): 16/25
* Avoid Target: 16/31

I thought it was going to be another no spend for me today, but we stopped at the library and I decided to pay my overdue fines

On the plus (?) side, I returned all of the clothes my mom bought me for my birthday. She got me stuff that didn't fit and wasn't my style either. The store put the credit back on *MY* credit card, so that was a bonus for me. I was so afraid that I'd end up with a store credit for a store that I never shop at (you know the one, if you're looking for a sweater with a snowman on it, this is the place )

Dec. 1-
Dec. 2-
Dec. 3- spent $1.48 at post office, $12.50 at the grocery store, made $3 selling eggs
Dec. 4-
Dec. 5- $21.28 at grocery store (DH), $100 to order spring dance recital costumes. We're all out of check blanks, so the costume order went on the credit card. oops!
Dec. 6- $44.65 for gas, $4.37 for snack
Dec. 7-$38.90 for pizza (DS's birthday), $293.03 for groceries, $2.88 + misc change for a tip at Starbucks
Dec. 8-
Dec. 9-
Dec. 10- $7.15 for chicken feed (budgeted), $42 for kids' monthly bowling league fees (budgeted)
Dec. 11-
Dec. 12- $5.50 for lunch at Panera with DH, $105.42 for DCs' and niece's gifts, $175.70 for my parents' gift (will be reimbursed by my siblings for 2/3 of the cost), $10 for my mom's birthday gift.
Dec. 13- $61.04 at grocery store for fruit and dairy
Dec. 14- $50.00 for gas
Dec. 15- $10.66 for b-day party gift for DD's friend, $51.36 for household stuff (laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, dryer sheets, soap, vacuum cleaner belt, etc.)
