I'm doing really bad this month. Having issues with ppd and shopping makes me feel better. I'm going in for meds tomorrow (after exhausting my natural remedies), so hopefully I'll get back to normal soon. The meds (have battled depression for years) have always helped quickly in the past.

OH! But last night I was looking for something to eat. Normally if we don't have a meal planned in advance we just go out to eat. But I looked all over and found a mix for pizza crust and threw together a yummy pizza instead.

2/1: : $18.17 at Pizza Hut
2/2: : $9 at lunch, $42 at Disney Store (will get $20 back Monday), $38 at BRU (all necessary)
2/3:
2/4:
2/5: : $3 on snacks
2/6: : $30 on dinner for DH and I (date), $106 on new shoes, $70 at Target ...all necessary (except dinner), but a huge hit in the wallet.
2/7: : $35 at PetSmart on a new liner for our crate.
2/8: : $10 on supper
2/9: : $5 on soda and newspaper

Goals (Total/Goal/# of days in the month):
True No-Spend days: 2/19/29
No-Car days: 3/14/29
Decluttering days: 1/10/29
No Caffeine days: 2/15/29
Take a walk days: 2/20/29

I'm feel like I'm doing a little better now, but I've got a lot of spending coming up in the next week: Vet appt. new dog bed (he peed on is non-washable old one ), budgeted new dressy clothes (I have NOTHING!), special V-day dinner with all my single girlfriends, groceries, etc. etc. etc. EEEK! And I couldn't go to yoga today because I over spend last week, so I'm not going to make THAT goal either! :

February
02/01 $420 rent. Made $10
02/02 $5 over priced junk food snacks.
02/03 $3 tip for the pizza my friend got us.
02/04 : I DID spend $5 today, but it was buying something for a friend, and I got payed back, so I'm not counting it as a spend.
02/05 $13 rent,
02/06 and $28 for flea meds and dog food; $10 gas; $27 fabric, etc. to make a gift; $13 eating out with a friend (after taking a walk at the beach!); $3 candy, $2 kool-aid (for dying w/ friend. I might get payed back). I also bought some greeting cards, but I used a gift card, so I'm not counting that as spending.
02/07 :
02/08 :
02/09
$3.26 at the dollar store for gift wrap.
02/10 :

Goals:
  • 8/29 Save ALL receipts.
  • 8/29 Stay out of all stores other than the Co-op, Winco, Ross, dollar and thrift stores*.
  • 3/20 no-spend days :
  • $21/$60 social spending
  • 0/3 Yoga sessions
  • 1/8 1/2 hour+ walks
  • 0/~$150 Saving
  • 0/$25-worth at work eating
  • Spend tax return only on budgeted expenses (car registration, fix computer, Burning Man ticket, etc.)
Key:
: = True no-spend; = Spending within budget; =Un-budgeted, necessary; = Un-budgeted and unnecessary

January's goal results:
* 28/31 Save ALL receipts.
*2/25 Stay out of all stores other than the Co-op, and Winco.
*17/20 true no-spend days :
*$46.20/$25 social spending
*0/2 Yoga sessions this month
*$27.40/$30 worth at-work eating
*~$60/$0 out of budget spending

*Dollar stores have a $5 per trip, 2 trips per month limit! Ross and thrift stores have a one trip per month/$20 limit!

So I want to spend about $40 on three books that I'd like to have for my doula library and I'd like to read them. I could get them from a friend or the library but they are reference materials that I'd like to have. Dh says I should buy them. What should I do?

We can afford them (in the sense that there is money in our account) but we are paying down debt and saving, so ultimately it takes away from those larger goals. I will use them as business deductions on our taxes, so that helps, but still. What to do, what to do.

2/1 - - Snowed in!
2/2 - About $9 in groceries, necessary. Otherwise
2/3 -
2/4 - Paid dr bill, but Made sister cookies for her birthday instead of buying a gift, she loved them!
2/5 -
2/6 - - $20 in groceries
2/7 - $14 in totally unnecessary groceries. I'm going to take it out of the grocery budget to try to recoup from it
2/8 - $68 at Sam's Club It's stuff that we'll use, but I don't think we necessarily needed it now.
2/9 -
2/10 - Grocery shopping - $32, saved more money than I spent!

The weather is really bad here, and I plan on not going to my class tomorrow as it's about a 35 minute drive and I don't feel comfortable doing it. So I will at the least save gas money.

2/1 (Went spending crazy, got over pried Hannah shirt for daughter among other things!)
2/2 ($60 donation to GI RIGHTS hotline training I went to)
2/3 :
2/4 :
2/5 (Cloths for baby needed, DDC swap stuff, Dinner at babywearing group with hubby! All in budget and soooooo worth it!)
2/6 :
2/7 (homeschool and Vday items and special dinner)
2/8 :
2/9 ($150 food and hubby got The day he asked me to marry him ten years ago flowers. LOL)
2/10 Got a budgeted toddler bed but then just had to get the giraffe bedding set and a RUG. What was I thinking? It is so cute! LOL

Ok so a friends son (3) they co sleep with fell out of bed and broke his colar bone. The military hospital here left the little boy with no care for almost a week till they could fit him in after his ER visit. This scares they heck out of me.

My son co-sleeps with big older sister in her bed. Only he has been falling out just about every night and she does not want to put her bed on the floor. (She actually just wants us to let her sleep with her baby sister. NOT going to happen, my tiny baby till she wants to sleep some place else. LOL

So we got to thinking we should try to get him his own bed in the same room till his sister kicks him out of there as well. (She is 8) Should have just gotten the bed. but but but....

-sigh- Another day. I have a thing for giraffes.

We can afford them (in the sense that there is money in our account) but we are paying down debt and saving, so ultimately it takes away from those larger goals. I will use them as business deductions on our taxes, so that helps, but still. What to do, what to do.
Brooklyndoula, if you think you will use them a lot, I say buy them. It's a long term investment to your knowledge and skills.

2/2: Yay, made it through the rest of trip without impulse spending! Also came home to check mail and find $100 Wal-mart gift card (work bonus), $10 cash from relative, and $40 extra check from husband working a few hours last week. Since husband is seasonally laid off this is all really needed!
2/3 - found a new way to save money today after realizing I was paying double the price for trash bags with the drawstring. I think I spent $6.50ish on a years worth of trash bags today!
2/4 :
2/5: So I spent $3.47 on 5 great pieces of clothing, but it was not in our budget, and they are out of season, so they weren't exactly needed yet, unfortunately, clothing is not in our regular budget right now. I spent part of my son's haircut money for the clothes.
2/6 : My husband forgot his lunch and had $3 to eat out, I figured he'd get some dollar menu items, but he ordered a value meal putting us $2.27 over spent
2/7 :
2/8 $109.90 spent on filing taxes, : $6.98 husband ate out again
2/9
2/10:

Guide:
: No Spend
Spent Within Budget
Necessary but Unbudgeted Spending
: Impulse or Unneeded Purchase/Spending

$0 Added to Savings
