Yesterday was a No Spend Day. Unfortunately it was also a no decluttering/organizing day. I honestly don't know what the deal is with me and decluttering. I think that I am just so overwhelmed with where to start that I just don't do anything.

2/1 No Spend
2/2 $174.94 groceries; $50 household (Costco membership)
2/3 $43.00 donations; $86.69 groceries; $53.24 gifts for Valentines Day (budgeted)
2/4 $88.00 bowling fees; $56.76 gas; $26.00 allowances for kiddos
2/5 No Spend
2/6 $2.34 coffee; $9.30 clothing (much needed sweatshirts for myself) $2.21 household (lunchboxes for kiddos) .80 school supplies; $53.18 DS birthday gift and balloon; $21.34 milkman
2/7 $2.35 coffee; $1.91 household
2/8 $28.73 Chuck E. Cheese w/kids
2/9 $2.34 coffee
2/10 $36.00 charitable contributions; $5.00 gift for friend; $2.35 coffee; $118.03 groceries
2/11 No Spend

Today I am taking the kids bowling. DS has a coupon for 1/2 price that I promised him he could use. I am going to commit to 30 minutes of decluttering/organizing today. Maybe smaller chunks of time is better. We'll see.

Jill

My Plan

Groceries: $401.00/$750
Household: $54.12/$150
Gas: $56.76/$200

25 no stores days (grocery or Big Box): 8/25
No Credit Cards: 11/29

Tribe, I am so, so sorry about your dog! I'm feeling pretty knee deep in vet bills right now and have been very worried about my dog, so I can only imagine what you're going through.
Here's to you faithful friend: :

February
02/01 $420 rent. Made $10
02/02 $5 over priced junk food snacks.
02/03 $3 tip for the pizza my friend got us.
02/04 : I DID spend $5 today, but it was buying something for a friend, and I got payed back, so I'm not counting it as a spend.
02/05 $13 rent,
02/06 and $28 for flea meds and dog food; $10 gas; $27 fabric, etc. to make a gift; $13 eating out with a friend (after taking a walk at the beach!); $3 candy, $2 kool-aid (for dying w/ friend. I might get payed back). I also bought some greeting cards, but I used a gift card, so I'm not counting that as spending.
02/07 :
02/08 :
02/09
$3.26 at the dollar store for gift wrap.
02/10 :
02/11 :

  • 0/~$150 Saving
  • 17.10/$25-worth at work eating
  • Spend tax return only on budgeted expenses (car registration, fix computer, Burning Man ticket, etc.)

Well, I only have two kids and I feel overwhelmed by our collective "stuff", so if I had six kids' worth of clutter - believe me, I would not be getting anywhere fast!!
I think an hour a day is a long time to try to declutter. Maybe 30 mins a few times a week is more achievable?

$7 playgroup (budgeted) plus an unbudgeted $9 to join the community association that playgroup belongs too, which turns out to be one of the conditions of using it.

Trying really hard to stretch the groceries for another day or two, but will need to get milk and cheese tomorrow for sure.

Groceries/household -- 167.11/500
Eating Out -- 37.50
Medical -- 0/30.00 (planning on 2 well baby visits)
Personal spending -- 144.39

Debt reduction goal -- 500/500 to credit card

Well, I spent a small fortune on a baby carrier today. We now have 3 kids and I have to be on my own next week for the first time and need a way to carry the baby while I parent the other two. I had an old sling, but it shredded when I washed it. Seriously, the thing was 8 years old and has survived 2 kids, so it was due to be replaced.

So, $92 on a new Ergo. Hopefully, it will see many years of use.

Thankfully, we have had many friends and neighbors bring us wonderful hot meals, so our grocery budget is very low this month. I think it will all balance out at the end of the month.

Frugal, food growing mama to my four loves

2/2: Yay, made it through the rest of trip without impulse spending! Also came home to check mail and find $100 Wal-mart gift card (work bonus), $10 cash from relative, and $40 extra check from husband working a few hours last week. Since husband is seasonally laid off this is all really needed!
2/3 - found a new way to save money today after realizing I was paying double the price for trash bags with the drawstring. I think I spent $6.50ish on a years worth of trash bags today!
2/4 :
2/5: So I spent $3.47 on 5 great pieces of clothing, but it was not in our budget, and they are out of season, so they weren't exactly needed yet, unfortunately, clothing is not in our regular budget right now. I spent part of my son's haircut money for the clothes.
2/6 : My husband forgot his lunch and had $3 to eat out, I figured he'd get some dollar menu items, but he ordered a value meal putting us $2.27 over spent
2/7 :
2/8 $109.90 spent on filing taxes, : $6.98 husband ate out again
2/9
2/10:
2/11

Guide:
: No Spend
Spent Within Budget
Necessary but Unbudgeted Spending
: Impulse or Unneeded Purchase/Spending

I had two new sets of sheets that were still in their original packaging that I bought over a year ago.

Since we haven't opened them in a year, I figured they were really not needed.

So I took them back to Walmart...I didn't expect them to take them...but they did! One year later and no receipt. Wow.

That is $43 dollars put back in the budget.

Did pretty well today. We had the employee of the year award ceremony today so I bypassed the available cake, and loaded up on fruit as my breakfast. (Um, and some potato chips too.) Then the breakfast I brought became lunch. And I remembered my snacks for class tonight.

I'm not sure about tomorrow yet; I'll probably get fast food on the way to class, but maybe I can come up with something good. Or maybe just make a PB&J. With some dark chocolate for dessert.

Just saying it here makes me feel like I should really try to do the healthier, more frugal thing.

Tracking & Goals:
7/15 - No Spend Days
12/19 - No Spend + Budget Days
$27.90/$50 postage/swap budget
0/2 thrift store trips
1/5 fast food meals
Go to the family's investment guy

- budgeted spending - NO spend - sold something - Unneccesary, not budgeted

2/5 (Pet food, $64, groceries, $5, gas, $12, postage, $3)

Thank you so much everyone for the posts, its so appreciated. We have had a rough few days over here. We had really stretched our budget to buy the pup and to loose her so soon is just awful. My mornings just aren't the same without her tripping me down the stairs.

Many hugs to those also going through a hard time with ill companions.
