2/1 No spend No Drive
2/2 No spend No Drive
2/3 No spend No Drive
2/4 No spend No Drive
2/5 Big spend, but all necessary and budgeted Groceries: $85.32, Laundry Quarters: $5.00, Postage $2.47, Gas: $32.30. And I drove to the bank (to deposit rebate checks) and library, as well.
2/6 No spend Drove to church for Ash Wednesday. Forgot all about it.
2/7 No spend No Drive
2/8 Spend, but all budgeted Postage $4.94, Baby formula, et. al @ Target $60.58, Clothing $4.27 - $26.74 on yummy wings/fries. Also put 1500 into the IRA
2/9 Spend, budgeted, but not necessary. $6 parking at museum, $6.35 for lunch for DD and me. Moved 4700 into savings.
2/10 No spend Did drive to mass this morning. What are ya gonna do? We don't have sidewalks, and lots of blind curves and idiots driving. Can't wait to move in the Spring/Summer, and *hopefully* have stuff w/in walking distance again. (Military move - no real choice in the matter).
2/11 No spend No Drive
2/12 No spend No Drive (snowed in!)
2/13 Huge spend day. All budgeted and planned, though, so it's all good. Groceries and Razors: $95.96, Postage: $2.47, Car Registration: $36.00, Book Coop: $41.45, Cheese Coop: $46.13, Frontier Order: $260.35 (includes membership fee). Oh, and DH bought gas (what a good honey buying it on my spend day ), but it hasn't come through our online account, and he didn't get a receipt, so, I don't know how much yet. I spent a lot, but, I also won't place another frontier order for 3 months and part of the frontier and books will be most of DD's Easter and B-day presents. Heck, I'm ahead of the game since I stayed within budget on those ;-).

Normally, I'd be annoyed that I blew that much in one day, but, I'm not because this was all planned out and budgeted. I also know I won't be spending money for a few more days, and I'm ending up spending less *on average* over the course of the month. I like this whole no spend challenge thing.

7/19 no drive days
9/19 no spend days
11/24 no eat out/take out days
$181.28/275.00 on groceries
$7000/1493.7 into s/i/Is (so far, 800 in savings; 1500 in IRAs) Goal MET for month!
$9700/17924.40 into s/i/Is for the YEAR (so far, 5700 in savings; 4000 IRAs)

Today felt like a bit of a defeat. I bought a lottery ticket (usually DH does that, but he asked me to) and since I was already spending money, I filled up the gas tank. Anyway, I was annoyed at buying the Powerball ticket, so I was going to get a soda from the vending machine at school. It was broken, but I felt bad for planning to spend a buck on a soda.

Tomorrow I'll make a trip to Costco to order a birthday cake, but I may not get anything else. I'm not sure yet.

Tracking & Goals:
7/15 - No Spend Days
12/19 - No Spend + Budget Days
$27.90/$50 postage/swap budget
0/2 thrift store trips
1/5 fast food meals

Gotta love my DD12. I was feeling run down today and we were supposed to meet a friend at the park to have lunch. I was too tired to pack lunch so I figured I'd run through a drive-thru, even though I've really been trying to avoid eating out this month. While I was getting ready to go, DD12 made and packed a lunch for all of us! Sweet kid!

2/01 , $124.77 Groceries, $12.28 household, $13.36 Razors:
2/02 , $46.92 Gas, $57.69 Household, $7.95 Dairy Queen for me and DD12), $3.20 Sees Chocolates (DH & DD9)

2/09 Pampered Chef stuff $21.32, McD's Fries $1.85
2/10
2/11 $11.87 Household (photocopies or HSing stuff), $42 Gas (actually, last week's tank of gas lasted longer than I thought it would, so this isn't bad)
2/12 $9.75 Groceries 'cause I forgot to get milk & bananas yesterday argh!, and $22.00 at fabric store for supplies for 1 project for which I am getting paid and 2 projects for my kids
2/13 - $70.00 - okay, so ceramics might not SEEM necessary, but we had time to kill after our picnic and rather than go in a store I decided to take the kids to the ceramic shop on Base to make plates (we use them for dining, plus it's a permanent memento of the kids). When I was there I found out there were some items I'd ordered MONTHS ago that had been waiting for me, so I had to pay for them, too. Those items will be made into Christmas presents for next year.

Goals:
No spend days: 5/17
Eating out days: 1/6
No CC use: 13/29
Unbudgeted spending: $124.47/0
Track "wants" spending: $34.37

Happy Valentines Day!!!! Stuck to my plan of just buying valentines at the dollar store. (The coffee shop around the corner was calling to me, but I resisted.) I forgot that DH had bowling last night (budgeted), so that added to the daily spending. I actually did 30 minutes of decluttering yesterday.

2/1 No Spend
2/2 $174.94 groceries; $50 household (Costco membership)
2/3 $43.00 donations; $86.69 groceries; $53.24 gifts for Valentines Day (budgeted)
2/4 $88.00 bowling fees; $56.76 gas; $26.00 allowances for kiddos
2/5 No Spend
2/6 $2.34 coffee; $9.30 clothing (much needed sweatshirts for myself) $2.21 household (lunchboxes for kiddos) .80 school supplies; $53.18 DS birthday gift and balloon; $21.34 milkman
2/7 $2.35 coffee; $1.91 household
2/8 $28.73 Chuck E. Cheese w/kids
2/9 $2.34 coffee
2/10 $36.00 charitable contributions; $5.00 gift for friend; $2.35 coffee; $118.03 groceries
2/11 No Spend
2/12 $1.33 coffee; $12.85 McDonalds for kids; $28.17 bowling w/kids
2/13 $4.26 valentines & stickers; $11.00 bowling fee; $6.00 dh HAD to buy two rounds of drinks at bowling (somehow this is a requirement )

Today we go to our homeschool co-op. I may need to get gas and I know I'll be getting a coffee. The milkman comes today, so I'll be spending there too. I won't be able to get to any decluttering today.

Jill

My Plan

Groceries: $401.00/$750
Household: $54.12/$150
Gas: $56.76/$200
Coffee: $10.71/$25
Frivolous Spending: $0/$100
Birthday for DS #2: $53.18/$50
15 no spend days: 3/15
25 no stores days (grocery or Big Box): 10/25
No Credit Cards: 13/29
2x eat out with hubby and/or kids: 2/2
22 hrs decluttering: 3.5/22

2/2 : $43 on CC at jewelry party, ugh
2/3
2/4 Plus an unexpected work bonus (DH just lost his job so this is perfect timing!)
2/5
2/6
2/7 : $11.75 on cold medicine for DH, $23.50 in additional groceries, not budgeted
2/8
2/9 : $23 on a gift for a birthday party, $35 in additional groceries
2/10 : $26 on lunch, $3 Starbucks
2/11 : $13 on wine for dinner
2/12 (Decided not to buy new chair, go me!)
2/13 Planning a no spend.
2/14

Today is payday, which makes me want to spend, spend, spend. However, I am taking out our budgeted cash and putting away the Debit and CC's.

I have also decided to only do 1 of the 3 home improvement projects I have been planning on in order to stay within budget. That makes me feel really good. I also decided to not buy a sewing machine off CraigsList even though it was only $25. We can wait for new curtains in the kitchen.

My only gripe is that I wish I could get DH on board more. He is having a hard time realizing that with the loss of his job we are really struggling. I think it has more to do with him feeling "worthless" then him not caring about our financial situation. I need to find ways to be more encouraging. We need lots of prayers today as he has a 2nd interview with a great potential job. *Deep Breath*

Key:

Whew...I've made it through lunchtime.

That is a dangerous time for me because we live so close to fast food restaurants (within walking distance)

Just five more hours and this will be a safe no-spend day.

It is getting bad when you have to record not-spending by the HOUR!

But that $300 was a blow to our emergency fund so I want to get that back up...which means hard-core no-spending for a few weeks.

I had a major melt-down this morning when I realized I'd have to spend the last bit of my Christmas money on groceries so DH can eat out at work. All the rest went to groceries, I don't know why I hoped this bit would be different..

2/9:
2/10:
2/11: 1.06 Best Buy, budgeted entertainment
2/12: $8.75 - budgeted groceries
2/13: I get a , DH gets : $28.41 + unknown amount of take out

We have $71.59 left until the 24th. I told DH last night that we couldn't spend any more than that and he looked at me sideways and said "I don't really think that's possible, is it?" Uhm.. sweetie.. I didn't say lets try, I said thats all the money we have.

I feel like I'm falling apart.

I hope he realizes it soon and you are not left to handle this on your own. Because going that long on that little amount of money will be tough and you will need him to hunker down with you.

I am sorry you are struggling and do not have your dh's support. Can you two sit down and really work over the budget? Is he willing to talk calmly about it?

It is getting bad when you have to record not-spending by the HOUR!

But that $300 was a blow to our emergency fund so I want to get that back up...which means hard-core no-spending for a few weeks.
You are doing great!!

Hang in there! We are in a very similar situation and I had a major meltdown this morning. Lots of and for what you have done so far!

Hi all
I see everyone's doing great!!!

Well, yesterday (13) I spent $140 on groceries and $73 on gas...aaah! This is all in budget ( I live in the UK where food and gas are both astronomically expensive) but scary none the less. Last week I managed to scrape $3 back from the week's grocery budget - pathetic but better than an overspend. I hope to be able to improve on that this grocery "week".

14: genuine no spend day!!

We had to top up our oil for heating this week, and haven't had the bill yet, but I know it will be a big one We got 500 liters back in October and have gone through the worst bit of the winter with that, so a mid Feb top up is probably good going, but I'm still scared to open that bill....

Mamaof6, pleased to see you did some decluttering yesterday!

Wow thanks so much for the hugs and support.

To some extent, DH "needs" to eat out with his co workers because a lot of business/networking gets done over the lunch table, but yeah there really just isn't any way to do it right now, for the next week at least. We have been talking about it, but I didn't realize the exact dollar amount & date until yesterday.

So the $71 for 10 days, in reality, should be easy. What do we *really* need in the next 10 days? The groceries are planned & purchased up through the 20th so I just need to use the pantry and freezer to stretch 4 more days. There is a chance he needs gas, but his commute is 2 mi/day so it shouldn't be much..

Now that I'm thinking more about it, we have movies on TV (and a DVR), popcorn in the pantry, Sunday morning donuts in the freezer. If I could just shift the attitude, this could be a fun challenge. I'm going to try and look at it that way

2/2: Yay, made it through the rest of trip without impulse spending! Also came home to check mail and find $100 Wal-mart gift card (work bonus), $10 cash from relative, and $40 extra check from husband working a few hours last week. Since husband is seasonally laid off this is all really needed!
2/3 - found a new way to save money today after realizing I was paying double the price for trash bags with the drawstring. I think I spent $6.50ish on a years worth of trash bags today!
2/4 :
2/5: So I spent $3.47 on 5 great pieces of clothing, but it was not in our budget, and they are out of season, so they weren't exactly needed yet, unfortunately, clothing is not in our regular budget right now. I spent part of my son's haircut money for the clothes.
2/6 : My husband forgot his lunch and had $3 to eat out, I figured he'd get some dollar menu items, but he ordered a value meal putting us $2.27 over spent
2/7 :
2/8 $109.90 spent on filing taxes, : $6.98 husband ate out again
2/9
2/10:
2/11
2/12:
2/13 $5.42 Emergency food for kit my husband is working on
