Now for my response. I/We should use it for something responsible, like some car maintence that we need, but I think we will use it to get Disneyland Passes. We had them last year & loved them but could not afford them this year. But thanks to Shrub...we can get them with his "Stimulus Plan".

Savings. I have no debt, other than student loan debt with deferred interest, so I'd be crazy to pay back on that when I can put it in the bank and let it earn interest instead.

Its going into savings for now, and then will be used to buy DH the stuff he needs for scuba diving (he's going to school in the fall to become a professional diving instructor, so needs like $2000 worth of gear.... which is almost exactly how much we're getting back overall!! )

We haven't decided yet. I guess it depends on if there's anything we need or really want whenever we actually get the check.

We'll probably end up putting it into savings because we're trying to buy a house.. but I want to blow it on clothes or enough yarn to make a sweater or something. we have paid off our credit cards already, and we don't have any out standing debts or student loans.

The only other thing that needs to be done is DH's truck needs some work, but we have budgeted for that already.

Undecided.

I was thinking of using it for a dishwasher or dd's curriculum for next year or on a home improvement project. Dh was thinking of using it to fund a trip.
I guess it depends on what is going on in our life then. We will probably spend it though.

Dh mentioned today that the tv we have now is showing signs of going out so we will be getting a larger tv. I actually want one of those that is about 5ft high but we will probably settle for a few inches bigger than we have now and the left over will be used to pay bills.

paying down debt, for sure. although, i feel skeptical. For whatever reason, I find it hard to believe that a check will just show up for me with my name on it, without filing any forms or anything. Am I the only one who feels this way? Although, I did just file taxes so maybe that counts.

Either going into savings, investment funds of some sort, or getting DH a new computer that he's waited 4 years for while buying me 2 new ones.

Yeah, that does count. The amount you receive is based off of your 2007 return that you just filed. So anyone that doesn't file is SOL. In fact, there are people that normally wouldn't have to file that are being encouraged to do so because they are entitled to a stimulus check, and filing a return is the only way to get one.

We will probably use it for daily expenses. I might use some of it though for classes for dd. She wants to take dance again and there always seems to be some interesting community ed things. Or we might join a homeschool co-op next fall so we could use it to pay the fees for that.

I voted wrong- I was thinking regular tax refund which is mostly going to debt (home improvement loan and medical bills). I have no idea what we will do with the stimulus check- probably save some and purchase an outdoor climbing toy for DS.

we'll be putting it toward new doors for our didn't realize how drafty this house was when we bought it last spring. so, it's a project we'd be doing anyway but we'll be able to do all the doors at once in stead of waiting til next spring to do the 3rd one. exciting, huh? oh well...

Debt. And maybe some books/supplies for my return to school.

Our regular tax return is buying me a new couch this year.

Because your income is too high, or for another reason?

You can get the money even if you don't file in 2007 by filing in 2008 - you just won't get it this summer/fall. It's going to show up as a credit on the 2008 return that, if you got the right amount in 2008, will just cancel itself out.

I think savings. We were expecting to have to pay fat taxes, but now we're getting a refund and this! We save to subsidize my staying home longer and longer, and to help us move into a bigger house in a couple years (in crazy expensive CA).
