Mine too. That is why car-free days entered into my goal list. When I drive, I spend. When you figure out how to stop that from happening, let me know! Because most days I have to drive somewhere.

01: $134 groceries/household stuff - within budget but more than I meant to spend IYKWIM. However, I did get some PP pads, some labour drinks and a bit of extra meat to make PP meals for the freezer, so I got a lot for my money. DH spent $1 at work on a chocolate bar!
02: No spend!!! DH spent a tiny bit at work but this isn't his challenge....
03: DH spent $7 on playing football plus $1.5 on a drink afterwards. The weather was glorious so I took DS1 and DS2 to the park after school. I had packed snacks but DS1 accidentally dropped his and spilled them everywhere so I ended up with a $2 spend at the store for replacements.......
04: Needed butter but came out of the store with chocolate too So, that's $4 out of my grocery budget. I wanted a Coke later but I resisted so it wasn't all bad!!
05: $3 on groceries. Still within budget but wouldn't have bought this by choice, it was related to an argument with my DH about my trying to cut down on groceries and him claiming he is being left hungry??!?!
06: $4 on groceries. By some miracle, I sent DH to the store for bread, milk and cheese and he *only* came back with those items!! Progress!!! That is my household/grocery budget spent til Weds so we need to manage with what we have now. DH is aware!!
07: No spend!!
08: $120 groceries/household (that's within budget and pretty good given that we needed diapers for nighttime use and laundry stuff.......) plus $120 gas (within budget but still scary)
09: No spend!!

Feeling really pleased with my two no spends so far this week as the kids are on spring break and nagging for snacks, toys etc at regular intervals PLUS it is hard thinking of places to go that you don't have to pay to park at. Today we went to visit a lighthouse then for a coastal walk - all free, free parking! Hoorah!

I love no-spend days! Our riding lessons get charged automatically to my cc, and it was always just too tempting to not pay off the full amt each month if I needed the $ elsewhere, so today I switched the auto-pay to my debit MC. That will keep me honest (I hope)

I am having a good month so far. I am not allowed to drive due to my surgery last week, so no drive=no spend. Although there is always online .

Actually, I do want to get a papasan chair cover for my papasan chair. My dog sleeps on it and right now I have a sheet covering it, but it looks tacky, and the dog is always messing with it. That will be around $25. I'll order it some time in the next few days.

My DH HATES the Dentist. it's like pulling teeth for him to go. He had to have a lot of work done. He still needs more, but it's not in the budget right now. I tell him, he at least needs to keep up with his regular 2x a yr check ups.

Alas, I have to load it in my Honda Civic and pay the far more expensive by-the-bag price.
Why no get some of those big tubs like stables use for mucking stalls, etc. Then you could load that up and put it in the back of your Civic? Or, find someone w/ cats who uses the litter in the 35lb pails. Maybe they can give you some pails (which have lids!) so you can load compost into them? (I know I have lots of those pails 'cause we go through 1-2/month)

4/1 2.38 Tums (emergency for DS who has GERD); $8 dentist; within budget
4/2
4/3
4/4 $3 pizza lunch fundraiser for DS (budgeted)$370 tuition DS (budgeted)

4/6
4/7$14 ate out with friends (budgeted)

I budgeted $150 for variables which can include things like haircuts, eating out, pest control, etc, so really it was just $32 eating out. But I'm still surprised to see how quickly that added up. We took DS out for ice cream after his first piano recital. It was worth it

My goal is 15 no spend days

Yep, me too. My daughter has to go to school 5 days a week right now (rehersing for a play) so it's way worse. When the play is over in May we go back to 2 days of school (she is partially home schooled).

I read your post but then I didn't comment because I couldn't figure out what you should do. That seems like a pretty significant savings for something that you were going to need to buy anyway.

More unsubscribing from those sneaky emails - yay! I did drive, but managed to pick up bkfst for my mom w/out getting myself anything and I didn't step foot in a store.

I got snagged into ordering some new DVD's for the kids tho - they're Scholastic, but still...they're going into the discretionary category, b/c we didn't NEED them.

April 5: $50 ebay (summer dresses I'd already bid on)
April 6: ($75 big box, ok)
April 7: ($5.50 bkfst, $75 Dr. Visit, Not OK - $120 diapers, $48.50 Etsy, ok)
April 8: ($32.51, Not ok)

Our aquarium filter went out, so I have to buy a new one. Then, my ink cartridge told me it was empty, so I gotta get one of those, too. I need to buy gas, again, and it's up to frickin' $3.50 a gallon, now. Guess Bush and Pals want to get extra rich this week b/c it went up over 20 cents.

I'm annoyed. I don't feel like spending anymore money.

Goals:

no spend days: 23/30 (not including groceries) ---> 4/23
gas: $100 budgeted for month --->$50
household: $50 budgeted for month --->$26.01
business: I'd like to make at least $50 this month --->$0
eating out: 2/30 ---> 0/2

Key:
: eating out
: paid bills
: spent $ unnecessarily
: made some $$$
stayed on budget
spent money non-budgeted, but not nec. unnecessary

Yes, yes.  I'm fabulous. loveeyes.gif  Moving on...

Had a fantastic phone interview today for a new PT position with a terrific nonprofit; in-person interview is set for Friday. Very excited about the possibilities professionally and financially. On the challenging front, for some reason I seem to be incapable of making a meal plan the last few months. Keep sitting down in the playroom with the cookbooks spread out while the kids play, but never seem to get farther than 1 dinner and snacks...

Thanks! That is basically the conclusion I made, since I was going to get it in the near future..the savings was worth getting the spend day to me
