So last night I went to the Goodwill and loaded up my cart with stuff I probably don't need. Then I thought about this thread, and having to come back here to justify my purchases. It didn't get me out of the store empty-handed, but it very much cut down the total I spent!

The problem this morning: we're out of coffee at work. I desperately need some coffee.

Editing because I have no self control when there is no coffee available. Bah.

Self:
May 1:
May 2: $6 on breakfast, end of week splurge
May 3:
May 4:
May 5: $18 PO, $43 wedding gift, $4 thrifting
May 6: $7 coffee and breakfast, $4 thrifting

Joint:
May 1: ($54 on dog meds)
May 2: ($60 groceries)
May 3:
May 4: $20 groceries, $30 pizza
May 5:
May 6:

Personal spending: $78
Joint non-essential spending: $30

This used to be one of my big spending areas, and the only thing that broke the habit for me was learning to make those things myself. Body spray, for example, is basically just water, alcohol, and scent. Not hard to make at all. Alternatively, you could come over to the TP and join the craft swap. I know there is at least one person there (me!) who makes this stuff to trade.

01: $1 on biscuits for midwife visit, $3 on ice lollies etc for the kids.

02: Was doing really well this morning and then caved in and bought the kids chocolate after school -$1. Our kitchen really badly needs cleaning so I didn't want to make dinner in there so we ate out - $30. I then went to the store for cleaning products, milk and some muffins we didn't need - $15.

03: No spend and no drive!

04: Took the boys swimming - $18 for all of us. We packed snacks for the way home but we needed some fruit and meat, so spent $18 at Aldi.

05: Spent $40 on groceries which included a picnic for day out today. DH spent $4 on sweets for the kids at the museum but the money was actually from a neighbour. DS1 asked for ice cream but didn't get, so I wasn't as weak as usual! (And I wanted one too!!)

06: So pleased with myself - took the kids to the park after school and did not cave in and buy them sweets/choc/ice cream en route! No spend.

I think I will have to buy some groceries tomorrow because I want to keep the house reasonably well stocked as my baby is due any day.
