7/3

: $6.88 lunch - used my bday $
: $10 massage tip - used my bday $
: $49/$200 groceries

Did some non-budget spending, but I had enough bday cash to cover it. That is about gone, though, so have to be more careful from here on out. I also hated spending so much grocery money so early in the month, but we are hosting a big BBQ today, so really $49 wasn't too bad considering that.

I am a doofus. I actually Forgot that I was going to really really minimize spending, and yesterday just took the "stay within my pocket money budget" approach. I had to go to the office supply store for something, and while there, my nearly 3 year old latched on to some stickers and paper. That's kind of new for her, she's only just now getting into doing arts and crafts and drawing. It was only $5 total what she asked for, so I indulged. And then told dd1 she could also pick something, as long at it was something she was willing to share. Her choice was $6. And then I found several small odds and ends to pick up for myself and the home. All useful, but all not necessary right now. I left that place having spent $20 that I didn't need to. It was $20 I had, but $20 that would have been nice to add to my trip fund.

opinions, please: should my quest to can, freeze, pickle and dry everything in sight all summer long a grocery expense or should it be paid for out of the monthly fun money? because 75$/week won't buy much extra produce...

july 1:
july 2:
july 3:
july 4: works out perfectly, but now i have no money for the coming week. 20$ canning supplies, 102$ groceries (including tons of fruit to make jam, nectarines and mangoes were on sale so i be jammin' tonight) but i guess i'm not going to tomorrow's farmer's market.

week 1: 27$
80$ remaining for the month

(the budget is 75$/week for food, transportation, outings, etc, 100$ a month for clothes, gifts, craft stuff, etc)

march: 48% no-spend days
april: 56% no spend days
may: 52% no-spend
june: 33% no-spend

Terrific 4th of July celebrating today - free parade, followed by free afternoon at the lake, free fun at friends' place, free fireworks...really digging the freedom theme! Heading out for more celebrating tomorrow for a belated 4th/college graduation party. DH asked this morning if we had a gift for the graduate; thought for 2 seconds, and recalled the multiple bottles of champagne collecting dust in our wine collection, and decided to regift one. The grad will be thrilled, and we will be a little less cluttered. Now I just need to come up with a frugal wedding present for next weekend...

Well, it looks like my weekends with the kids are switching, so I will have them next weekend, which means I won't be tempted to spend money to go to the 2 shows my friends were trying to talk me into. Kinda bummed about that, but it definitely is better for my budget!

7/4- no spend, driving (took the kids to see fireworks)

7/5-shopping day-food-$132.53 at one store, $45.59 at another

$25 (and some change, don't have the receipt in front of me right now) on house stuff. DH got further with working on our new bedroom then anticipated and we needed some more supplies for him to continue.

So, $203.12 total for the day. All needed, but I'm still hoping to cut down more on groceries. This is much better for us though. You have to keep in mind that I'm pregnant, with blood sugar issues, and must eat a lot of protein regularly. And we have three boys who eat a ton. AND we're all on special diets due to allergies.

Considering we were in town for 13 hours for fourth of july festivities, we did pretty well in my opinion. This was also my grocery shopping and c.s.a. pick-up day. We also scored 5 dungeness crabs and 3 ziploc bags full of black snapper from some friends...so psyched!
