I was a little bad and went out to eat tonight. On the one hand, it was gift money. On the other hand, I could have eaten at home. But ya know what? I wasn't stressed about where the money was coming from since I knew we had it, and I wasn't stressed that we wouldn't have money for extras after. So that's a good, good start for me.

Hi...jumping in to join today. I just found this thread, but I did make a "no spend" promise to myself last week.
We are debt free, but spend nearly every penny of our healthy income I am ashamed that we make so much money and are saving so little. Granted, we have made childcare choices that are expensive (non negotiable for me), but there should still be plenty left over.

My biggest spending goals are:

Food: We eat healthy, but eat out and eat healthy "convenience" from Whole Foods way too much. We spend anywhere from $1000-$1200/mo on food for 2 adults! :
DH and I both WOHM, so I will be realistic and set a goal of a 25% reduction this month.
Online/In store Shopping: No purchases- none. We dont "need" anything for the next few weeks...especially cloth diapers!

Progress:
July 1
July 2
July 3
July 4
July 5
July 6
July 7

Married to my best friend since 08/05
Joyful mother to DS born 11/07 and DD born 04/10 (an unexpected HB)

The fundraiser I participated in, threw me, but I did a good job minimizing costs associated with that.

For groceries, I'm up to about $75 spent, since July 1. On eating out (related to the fundraiser schedule), I'm at under $7.

I am probably going to take my kids to see the Kit movie, in the theater this week. Dd1 has been dying to see it, and I haven't taken her to a movie in nearly a year. I just hope dd2 can handle theater etiquette. Hopefully, that can be about it for the week.

I am no longer going to make predictions as they make me want to shop, lol! I am going to try to only go grocery shopping one day this week but I'm not sure when. DH's schedule is crazy and we like to go together, although I may end up just going when I am able. There are also some things I may need to get, like paint for the kids and I may need more canning lids.

Well, I won't be spending any money for at least a couple of days as my car is in the shop again. But we will be throwing more money towards that. :

And I forgot about a bridal shower this weekend, so I'm going to have to buy a gift.

*sigh* I'm really proud of how little we're spending in general, though. Gotta keep it up.

July 2nd - Spent $1.25 on a drink, $3 on cotton candy at the fair, $11.26 JT co-op shipping (goes under food budget)
July 3rd - Spent 63.91 @ BJs (DH) + $7.00 grocery store - No Drive
July 4th - No Spend
July 5th - No Spend, No Drive
July 6th - $2.50 @ CVS - cookies & m&ms
July 7th - 76.71 Groceries

unnecessary spending = $ 5.30
food/groceries = $ 161.38
no drive = 2/30
no spend = 2/30

Wow, our groceries are quite more then I anticipated. We tend to only go to BJs once a month though and I don't by JT but 2 or 3 times a year. On a good note, I bought organic milk, cheese, fruit and meat. That stuff adds up quick!

This is our first month on the No Spend plan.

DH had to quit his job because it was COSTING him money to go. He's doubled up his courseload so that he can graduate from school sooner and get a better job, but in the mean time...

We have not gone to extreme measures (planning) yet this month, but we've limited ourselves to utilities, gas and groceries. I did have to spend $23 on shoes and clothes for the babe that I probably could have gotten from a thrift store cheaper.

Other than that...no eating out, no movies, no major purchases. We do have tickets to a sporting event later this month and I'm not sure what I will decide about the concessions.

So far DH is on board only b/c he knows it is only one month. My goal for him is to try and gradually change his mindset so buying something frivolous results in more than just, "I'll wait until August". But instead gets him thinking about what else we could do with that cash.

Glad to have this thread for ideas!

$50 for a pair of my favorite capris that are not made anymore.

$12.00~ Eggs from our c.s.a. (3 dozen)
$12.00~ Starbucks: coffee and 3 smoothies
$4.00~ Java Hut: coffee drink
$12.00~ Lunch
Considering we were in town for 13 hours for fourth of july festivities, we did pretty well in my opinion. This was also my grocery shopping and c.s.a. pick-up day. We also scored 5 dungeness crabs and 3 ziploc bags full of black snapper from some friends...so psyched!
