I've done pretty awful this month. The worse thing is, I don't think we've splurged at all...just about everything we bought was needed (aside from my shoes and DS' costumes). :

9/1: $14 for 5 pants, 4 shirts, and shoes for ds at thrift store
9/2: $2.50 coffee for DH and I, $9.50 for city trash bags
9/3:
9/4: $12 for eyebrow threading (I haven't had it done in over a month and I'm beginning to look like sasquatch ), $11 for yarn to finish ds' sweater, $77 in gas to fill up both cars (gas at a record low of $3.75/gal - hasn't been that low here in over 6 months), put $500 of paycheck into savings!
9/5: $65 for sandals at Endless.com, $20 dinner out with sister
9/6: $82 for groceries, $61 for school supplies (actually for ds’ Christmas) & two sheet sets, $14 clothes at thrift store, $100 for window installation, $20 for router & table DH bought from friend
9/7: DH’s parents want to go to IKEA, we budgeted $50 for trip and spent $55 (not bad)
9/8: (I’ve gotta be good the rest of this week to make up for the damage done over the weekend)
9/9: $6.50 for support hose & $10 for Dr visit
9/10: $53 for meds and vitamins
9/11:
9/12: $16.80 for stamps
9/13: $90.97 for groceries, $16.70 for winterizing supplies, $10.82 for breakfast out
9/14: , :
9/15:
9/16:
9/17: $15 for costumes at thrift store, $50 for my months worth of milk, eggs, cheese, and beef from the cow-share
9/18: $10 for copay at my DO, $9 for bread, peppers, and corn flour at farmers market
9/19:
9/20 -/21: $40 for gas in both cars, $96 for food (over $50 of that was for bulk flour/baking items in prep for winter baking), $10 misc items for yard clean-up/tree pruning.

My KEY:
= No spend
= Budgeted or necessary spending
= Un-Budgeted spending
= Put money in savings
= Saved money
: = No driving or biking only

MY GOALS:
7/15 No Spend Days
2/2 Eating Out
$592/$600 Groceries, gasoline & household expenses
$25/$25 Winter clothes for ds
$185/$150 Home Improvement
$500/$500 Put in household savings
Total Un-Budgeted spending = $124.50

= no unnecessary spending today.
= unnecessary spending today.
: = no-drive day.

September 1: But only a minor faux-pas. I forgot to pack snacks, caved, and bought a 99-cent box of Jelly Bellies!
2nd My, my! We're not off to a good start this month! DD was driving me CRAZY, and I had to get out tonight to work on a speech I'm writing, and only the expensive coffee shops were open. I ended up spending $4.71 at Starsucks.
3rd
4th $110.00 in groceries
5th
6th I'm not sure which face to put up. I needed bras. Did I need the good kind from Victoria's Secret at $132.00 for three of them?
7th $10.00 church collection
8th : Wrote big fat hairy check to mortgage company :
9th $7.00 for weekly lunch date, (feeds three of us!) and nearly $6.00 for a storage caddy for some household clutter.
10th $110 in necessary groceries, $40.00 in necessary gas, $3.00 on an unnecessary latte.
11th : Paid one bill.
12th
13th Sugar-crashed. No food. In car. Needed. Latte. Scone. Now!! $6.33.
14th : $25.00 donation to church building fund, another $25.00 for church raffle. I argue that charity is necessary, but I'm struggling with how to incorporate it into frugal living without seeming like a miserly monster.
15th 11.00 on sink patch kit (needed), and "caulk remover" (maybe I'll return that). 10.00 on a new potty seat for DD, who's about to start learning that fine art . . .
16th $8.00 on budgeted, weekly lunch date with family.
17th but : $20.00 on produce from the farm, $101.00 on groceries (I would have stayed within budget if I didn't live in one of those backward grocery tax states!), $28.00 on DHs meds, and $28.00 for some staining supplies. (Hey! I almost caved in to a $400 bid, so I'm doing pretty well to DIY on my back deck!)
18th
19th
20th $12.00 at Home Depot to sample a paint color. Don't hold your breath; I didn't like it. And then broke no-eat-out fast b/c DH and I forgot to eat before going out. $16.00 at Baja Fresh.
21st $10.00 to church collection.
22nd :
23rd Bought DD first-hand clothes, against my usual "rule." Total came to a little over $12.00. The good news is that I found a headband and tail for her Halloween costume at $3.50.

In God we trust; all others must show data. selectivevax.gifsurf.gifteapot2.GIFintactivist.gif

I just want to hug this thread! I think this is the best I've ever done on a no-spend challenge, and rather than counting days until October 1 when I can spend, I'm already thinking about how I can do better next month.

Thanks, you all!

9/22 : 31.86 cold weather clothes for ds6, $8.50 rain boots from thrift store that ds4 really liked

stuck to list other than the rain boots. Not bad, since I went to thrift shop, target, trader joes and health club (free amenity from my job) yesterday with ds4. Today I am taking the kids for haircuts (budgeted). So, I am thinking I may get a for today!

Goals:
