This is a big step for us.
We belong to a church in another town, but we are changing to a church in our own town so we can walk to church (and go to church with other friends in THIS community).
Whew! It is tough for me because I love our church, but I know in time we'll come to love this church too and I really do want to not spend money on parking and gas.
Not to mention that the friendships we develop with the people in our old church all mean we drive into that town for all visits, social calls, potlucks etc. It really does add up.
Tough choice but one I think we'll be happy with in the long run.

Today was very emotional, I got some bad news about my custody issue and I took some time to myself and ended up at Panera b/c I wanted to go there and I also needed to reach out to some online friends for help processing it and needed the wireless. I'm counting my lunch as an ok expense b/c I paid cash and I really needed to take care of myself for a bit.
But then, I stopped in at a clothing store. I bought a skirt and sweater for $15. They were on sale, but I don't need them and that's one of my things to work on - no clothing for anyone all month. They're still in the car tho, so I might take them back.

I need to come up with a cool key like the rest of you guys! I need to join the cool kids. I'll figure that next month. I bought a couple of grocery items, but they were within the budget. Then tonight I had to go to Target for contact lens solution, cotton swabs, and cotton balls - paid cash for them out of the money I take out for incidentals. So far this paycheck, we're ahead.
3) groceries = $91.58
4) $5 for a book, 21.20 for baby gift
5) $25.00 toy for James off Kijiji

I got a $20 Amazon gift card yesterday, from a swap. I'm trying to decide what to spend it on...my wish list is long. Maybe I'll let it burn a hole in my pocket awhile. I know if I were truly frugal I'd save it for Christmas presents...

9/2: $2.50 coffee for DH and I, $9.50 for city trash bags
9/4: $12 for eyebrow threading (I haven't had it done in over a month and I'm beginning to look like sasquatch ), $11 for yarn to finish ds' sweater, $77 in gas to fill up both cars (gas at a record low of $3.75/gal - hasn't been that low here in over 6 months), put $500 of paycheck into savings!

3/10 Let the Car Rest Days :
Wow...it has been several months since I tried to do a no-car challenge. Well...ahem...I tried to do one several times but I haven't been able to make it stick.
Going with no car is hard stuff.
So lets see. My total spending since 9/04 is (without taking into considering school expenses that were unreasonably high, but unavoidable and are now over and done with and I don't want to think about them anymore):
31.75 for food :
8.55 in lack of proper planning spending :
2/4 no spend days (4th and 7th)

Mom to DS(14), DS(12), DD(9), DS(6), DS (4), and DS(2)
We moved to a small town this summer -- I can walk for groceries, library, parks, post office, etc. But there is a greater variety of cheaper stores in the next town over... about a 5 min drive, which is closer than when I drove for groceries in the city we lived in, so it doesn't seem too far, but it's still driving. And it adds up when we run several short errands a week. I need to be more organized and just tough it out if I forget something.
Mom to DS(14), DS(12), DD(9), DS(6), DS (4), and DS(2)
Well, I bought something I hadn't intended on buying today, but I think I'll give myself a break about it. I bought a pg test - and then a little onesie. I think I'm going to have to revamp my entire budget.[/quote ]
