Glad I found this thread before....mods did....now I need to get some coconut oil....since pg 1 I have needed lube and pretty bad when you can't afford to have sex cause you can't afford 10$ for the teeny tiny jar of lube.

(oh...and spit gives yeast infections for us too so we stay away from it down there)

We have used olive oil... I guess we figured if it was on the approved list for perineal massage, we were good to go!

Last I checked, coconut oil was running 10 bucks at my health food store, and olive oil's not much better. Seeing as this is an F&F forum, are there any cheaper alternatives. (I really hope this is an acceptable post! )

Am I the only person that perceives all oils to be "gritty"? Even the massage oils feel like there are little sand particles in it.

The jar will last a long, long time. It is very frugal.

ANY food-grade oil (coconut oil, butter, olive oil, corn oil, etc) can be used as lube (though not with latex condoms, toys, or diaphrams).

Not all women do. Monthly hormonal shifts, postpartum hormonal shifts, pre/perimenopausal hormonal shifts, and hormone deficiencies can lead to a lack of natural vaginal secretions.

Try hair conditioner, you can buy it by the quart.  It is water base.  Will not degrade latex.

Yeah, but I will never be able to hear the phrase, 'deep conditioning' the same way again.

This is totally TMI, but DH and I use coconut oil (for EVERYTHING) and he associates the smell with both sex and popcorn. Once we were, well, feeling amorous, and he said, "I love you...you smell like popcorn!" It cracked us up!! :Sheepish
