KEY:

= Necessary spending
: = Unnecessary spending
: = No-drive day

1 Oct: : Went $5.00 over on grocery limit. Spent $150.00 to have heating system serviced.
2 Oct: :
3rd $25.00 at Fred Meyer for dessert auction ingredients, $40.00 in bulk dog food, $9.00 to buy schtuff to wrap and display the desserts. Expensive but necessary spending today. :
4th :
5th $15.00 to church
6th Errand to library - 70 cents on photocopies. DH just got a huge bonus at work today.:
7th : Perfume. $20.00. Priceless. I let DH talk me into that one, and usually he's the tightwad around here. Also, $7.50 for our weekly lunch date. We save a $1.25 when I bring thermoses full of iced water and we forego the Sprite. That saves $5.00 per month, $60.00 per year.
8th : $118.00 on groceries plus $8.00 at local produce farm. I'm trying to keep groceries under $120.00.
9th $14.78 light bulbs, $7.30 on butt paste, and WE FINALLY PAID OFF THE $4000.00 LANDSCAPING DEBT!!! : On a more prosaic note, the clerk at the drug store, of all people, volunteered a cheaper alternative to butt paste--simply combine zinc oxide with a little corn starch. But DD had of course opened the package so I had to buy it : . . . this time.
10th $22.00 on bread pans, household cleaners; $15.00 on second-hand long-sleeved shirts for DD.
11th $10.00 on OTC med for DD. Also, I'd like to add that for my first time ( I learned a new frugality skill by baking bread today--two yummy loaves of whole wheat peasant bread. :
12th $5.00 to church collection.
13th: Stayed home and outta trouble.
14th DD's doctor appt $20.00, weekly lunch date w/ DH = $8.00, and prescription for DD = $10.00
15th I allowed myself to go over-budget on groceries today. A whopping $216.00!! What can I say? I'm recession-proofing!
16th I'll go ahead and give a : for today. $12.00 on stuff for an upcoming weekend trip. I could have baked something instead of granola bars. I bought a pound of coffee b/c I feel bad for consuming so much of MIL's. I bought disposable baby wipes. Honestly, I could have found alternatives to all of the aforementioned. So ":" describes it.
17th $25.00 G-Diapers, $35.00 gas
18th Needed pants in which to hang out, work out, and lounge around in. Found a pair at thrift store for $3.00.
19th $: 7.00 migraine ice patches, $7.00 pricey grocery store salsa, $3.00 face cream (generic)
20th : 2.32 Starsucks coffee, $25.00 gas
21st Whopping $3.00 to Nader's campaign
22nd : I spent $1.29 on a plastic bottle of Sierra Mist. I don't even like Sierra Mist . . . or any other carbonated sugar water. I was thirsty and sugar-crashing . On a bright note, I bought a pair of hair scissors ($10.00) to cut DD's hair w/o paying somebody at a salon.
23rd : $67.00 in groceries was budgeted, as well as lunch for $8.50. Not budgeted was the "flip sofa" that I bought for DD. $40.00. I may return it . . .
24th :
25th Paid bills, including $10.00 to charity
26th $10.00 to church tithing
27th : But only by $2.00. It was worth buying DD the $%#^# ball to stave off a temper tantrum in the check-out line. Also, $12.00 on my first Christmas gift of the season, $15.00 on G-Diaper liners, $8.00 on supplies to make reusable wrapping paper.
28th Budgeted lunch out-$8.50.

In God we trust; all others must show data. selectivevax.gifsurf.gifteapot2.GIFintactivist.gif

Okay, so I got paid yesterday and went to put my budgeted amount onto my CC and looked at the wrong number, so I put the whole amount I had budgeted onto it rather than what I budgeted minus what I'd already put on there, so I ended up putting $120 extra, which isn't a huge deal, just means my savings for next month are a bit less. Luckily I had a good savings barrier planned so as long as I get a few days of work next week I should be fine.

I'm thinking of quitting my tutoring though. I'm finding it really hard to get there twice a week and when I take a cab I'm ending up only making a few dollars anyway so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

1/10 - $12.00 Lunch $16 bus tickets : (am)
2/10 - $30.00 shampoo, conditioner, deoderant :
3/10 - :

21/10 - and $23.00 organic soap, dishwasher detergent and chocolate, $45.00 sweater and bag :

Key
: No spending of any kind
: Budget spending
: Unnecessary/out of budget spending

Oct 1: (mostly paid bills to start the month, but I did get coffee/juice while DS and I were out that we didn't need... should've been prepared)
Oct 2: (bought Christmas present and office supplies at a great price and then a few groceries)
Oct 3: (not only no spend, but an unexpected government payment came in *yay*)
Oct 4: (I had to update this... I don't get no spend, we put $5.00 on our Tim Card for date night and bought donuts to have after our supper while we watched a movie )
Oct 5: (bought groceries to supplement what we had in our pantry and use some stuff up this week )
Oct 6: (bought apples on sale, plus paid heat and a cc payment and for my website domain name renewal)
Oct 7:
Oct 8:
Oct 9: (I went with no money and STILL spent money... $3.59 on gluten free animal crackers for DS who was melting down because I left his snack and drink at home)
Oct 10: (PayDay and pay bill day, did our big grocery shop as well :... paid some extra debt stuff too
Oct 11: (bought more office supplies... this has been a big month for me, my biggest ever so while I don't like to spend so much at the office supply store it's because of all of my sales which is definitely a great thing!)
Oct 12: (DP picked up few grocery items to complete the big shop that the other store didn't have)
Oct 13:
Oct 14:
Oct 15: (yet another $19.75 on postage supplies, plus an $11.00 stop at the thrift store... $9.00 picked me up a bag choc full of items for Holiday Helper and $2.00 picked me up used copies of "Our Bodies, Ourselves", "How to Talk so Kids will Listen, and Listen so Kids will Talk", and "Kids are Worth It"... totally worthwhile shopping trip
Oct 16:
Oct 17: (bought bulk brown rice pasta (our DS is gluten free so it's all we eat for pasta) $25.70, will last us a while )
Oct 18:
Oct 19: Bought the last few things (produce) that we'll need for our meals this week, we should be good to go for a while again now
Oct 20: Bought some boots that Tobias needed, and some Holiday Helper stuff to round out a package... but also made a stop at the corner store and spent $3.48 unncessarily. On a more positive note we paid for my DP's school application which is money well spent
Oct 21: $24.54 for Christmas presents
Oct 22:
Oct 23: $2.00 on Tim Hortons that I didn't really need (but really wanted )
Oct 24: Needed to get out of the house and had a craving for a drink at the corner store, ended up getting a hot drink too because I was so cold... total spent for DP and I $4.77
Oct 25: Did a bulk food grocery shop, we'll only need to stop at the Bulk Barn for flour and with that and a bit of produce each week that won't keep we'll be set for the next six weeks Also date night, spent a whopping $3.99 on snacks and just stayed in with each other
Oct 26:

How did I end up with so many when I started the months so poorly? We finished our financial plan for 09, reinstated the envelope system. With clothing, groceries, personal care items, meals & entertainment and a personal allowance budgeted, all I have to do is only use what is in the envelope. I realized our biggest issue was just not having boundaries for ourselves.

10/1 $30 impromptu cocktail hour with dh, $30 for sitter, $50 clothes
10/2
10/3
10/4 $70 Oktoberfest, $3.99 word search book for ds6, $10 fundraiser

Maybe I'll get ONE more no-drive day this month, but pretty much I'm driving my car all over the place these days. I think I'm not going to have that as a goal during the next challenge.

I'm going to focus on the money. I'm committed to sending every extra dime to our credit card these next two months. How nice would it be to have that sucker paid off before Christmas??? It would be ~~heavenly~~

Day: 26: $37 groceries
Day: 27

I was just about to spend some money....on bills! I decided that I'll wait for my next check on Thursday and start my new monthly budget plan. My goal is to make a new budget based on my paydays (every other Thursday) since it's a different amount each pay day. I'm going to divide up my bills in 1/2 and pay the ones that are due in the first week with the check I get at the end of the month along with my rent and bus pass and the bills that come later on paid with my 2nd check of the month.

I have just $30 left in cash and I have to use it for my friends birthday gift and a movie out. I'm topping up a gift card for HMV that I got for Christmas a year ago and making him some brownies.

Oh and I got my Visa bill today and it's about $250 less then it was last month and the min. payment has gone down!

Spent a lot of money today at Costco, but it was all on food and that is budgeted.

So it was a no-spend day for me since I didn't buy anything frivolous (I checked the cart twice...all good-for-you food).

Oct 25: Did a bulk food grocery shop, we'll only need to stop at the Bulk Barn for flour and with that and a bit of produce each week that won't keep we'll be set for the next six weeks Also date night, spent a whopping $3.99 on snacks and just stayed in with each other
Oct 26:
