Wow, I got 60lb of potatoes for $10 at a local family orchard. I canned 14 qts and have mashed taters, fries and hashbrowns in my freezer. I'm hoping I wont' need to buy any potatoes until next year! Do you have a farmers market or orchard near you? Now is the time to get 'em cheap.

I just got an Aldi's flyer, and they are $3.50 next week, which is about half the price they go for at my local supermarket.

Our local grocery had 10lb bags of russet potatoes for $7.99. Our aldis had smaller bags (5lbs I think) for $3 something but they were soft and not so good. I am in IL

I bought 4 lbs. of a $1 at the farmer's market on Wed., but they have been about $1 lbs in the grocery store. I have seen 50 lbs bags for about $15 (in the past those have usually run about $7).

I remembered to check today.

$2.99 for small white potatoes.

I paid $3.72 for 10 lbs the other day. We go through about 30 lbs a month. Next year, we are totally growing our own.

I usually buy organic potatoes, either the red or russet is $1 per pound. I usually buy just 3 lbs at a time. We're not big potato eaters.

I was just wondering about this. We only buy organic potatoes, but when we went to the hfs this week, they were 6.99 for 3LBS. I couldn't bring myself to buy them. I went to the regular grocery store and I meant to grab the 5LB of organic for 4.99, but I grabbed the conventional instead. We are totally a meat and potato family. I need to take them back and switch for the ridiculous priced ones. Still less the hfs. We are in New England.

I think 10lbs bags are generally $2-4 here. I can get 50lbs of new local potatoes for $7.99, so I think I'll be getting another bag after reading this since we're down to about half a bag.

Wow, I can't believe how much they cost!

I rarely buy potatoes, we have a friend with an organic farm and he gives us boxes of them. And we eat potatoes alot! When I've bought them before they $5 for 20 lbs.

Local, organic potatoes have been $1.99/lb this year So, that would be $20 for 10 lbs. I have no idea how that compares to the conventional grocery.

Exactly the same here - those are the "poison" potatoes though. I bought my last bag of those. Next bag will be local/organic and I have no idea what they will cost. At least they are in season.
