My daughter receives food stamps and lives in another state than I do. She is coming to visit me in December for a month. Will she be able to use her EBT card and access her food stamps in my state while she is here or can she only use them where she lives?
Yes she can use them in any state, but sometimes there is a special code or something the store has to put in and they aren't always aware of it and it caused some delays for me, but overall I was still able to get my groceries.
For a month? There's a limit on how long she can be out of state and not lose her benefits and using the card out of state is a sure way to prove your out of state. She needs to contact her worker to find out what the time limit is and let them know she will be gone so they don't mark her MIA and kill her benefits for not responding when they send her a letter asking if she's moved since she's using her card out of state.
I'll keep that in mind Satori. She is going to be here a month over the holidays. I know that her worker is aware of her traveling to visit me because they are working on bringing the baby's father to court for paternity testing and chid support. Thanks.
