I just started my job as a corrections officer on Friday. I don't go on the actual compound until Saturday so I haven't had to worry about where to get lunch or what to bring yet. However I don't get a lunch break once I'm on compound and have to eat whenever I can snatch something up.

So what I need are healthy *filling* food ideas that are easy and quick to eat, would need minimal refrigeration (as in an ice pack would do or a frozen bottle of water,) and would keep me from nasty lunchables every day Frugality is always nice too

I will be working the evening shift 4pm-12 am so I was thinking I might try to make breakfast or lunch my *BIG* meal of the day and just make dinner a snackish affair.

Nuts, like cashews, almonds.
cheese cubes, and ham or turkey cubed.
a themos of soup
veggie sticks, like celery, carrots, green and red peppers...
dry fruit

Hope that helps
