but does anyone have meal plans for May?

I've had to plan into the first week of June as well... In no particular order yet:

Linguine Arrabbiata with Chicken (spicy linguine)
Rigatoni with spiced meat sauce
Slow cooker sausage lasagna
Macaroni with beef
Salmon Tetrazzini
chicken and sausage with bowties
Mexican Shepherd's Pie
Chorizo, Egg, Bean Tacos
Spicy Sausage and rice casserole
Chilil
Modified Cowpies
Lasagna sausage rolls
Chicken fried steak
Cajun night
Chinese night
Devil's chicken
Basic roast chicken
Mexican pizza
Fried tilapia
Pesto tilapia
Chicken pesto
Tostadas/Nachos
Empanadas
Fried chicken
Fried pork chops
Fried rice
Sausage and potato
Chicken tortilla soup
Salmon and rice
Homemade hotpockets
Hamburgers

Phew, now all I have to do is put them in order on specific days.

Not yet, but I do have a post it with ideas. I need to get working on it sometime soon though.

Can I have the recipe for the crockpot sausage lasagna? And let me know how your cow pies work out.

We did the cowpies one day a week or so ago...They turned out really well. I modified it by cooking them all the way through and then making a gravy (we can only have raw milk here so "cream of anything" is not allowed) DH wasn't crazy about the rice so I'm going to cut it out for next time.

I haven't made the slow cooker lasagna...but the recipe is here

Nothing on paper (well, computer) yet but I do know in May I'm changing things for sure. I've been in a slump for several months and our eating habits haven't been pretty. So I'm easing myself back into cooking real food more next month. Definitely making a big pot of soup once a week. DH isn't thrilled about that but he can just have it that night and I get to eat it for lunch for several days, which is great. A main dish salad once a week, with a bunch of stuff in it. I need to work on the menu this weekend and when it's finished, I'll try to remember to post it.

Alyantavid, that must be great to be able to have dinner at Mom's every week. I'd love something like that built into the monthly menu, lol.

It really is! It was even better a few years ago when we had dinner at Mom's one night, Dad's another and then Taco Tuesday at mil's. We got super sick of tacos, but nobody ever complained!

I usually only do one week out. Those of you who do a month in advance, how often do you grocery shop?

We do a BIG shopping at the start of the month where we buy meats and dry goods. Then we do shopping for little things and veggies once a week.

Every 2 weeks. That's how we get paid so that's just how I shop. I do usually end up back in the store 1 more time during the 2 weeks, but it's a really small trip and I always stick to my list.

I have a little different take. I have 2 lists (so far) of 15-17 meals that each makes 2 or even 3 meals for our family of 4. That way I only cook every other day or so. I order the meals to take advantage of fresh produce, using up a big bunch of cilantro/parsley/etc, rotating carbs, and rotating the base (for us, that's ground turkey, fish, veg, turkey sausage, chicken, and shrimp). I shop once a week (Tuesdays) with an occasional quick trip on the weekend, usually to pick up fresh produce (yay for spring and farmers markets starting up here!). We stick with each list for months, then go to the other list for several months. This has worked well for us for about a year; it makes it easier for me to shop, and it takes that last minute what are we going to have for dinner pressure off me. This is probably not a good idea for a family that gets food-bored easily though! Also, I really want to do a CSA next year, and obviously won't be able to do this kind of meal planning then. But it's working for now!

I enjoy reading these posts for new dinner ideas. My family gets tired of the same old meals all the time so I'm trying to add some variety this month.

Here is my plan so far:

- Pot roast (crock-pot), potatoes, carrots
- Chili-cheese dogs, chips, salad
- Mini meatloaves, mashed potatoes, veg
- Basil Cream Chicken, stuffing, veg
- Chinese food
- Eggplant Parmesan
- BBQ chicken (crock-pot), veg
- Homemade pizza, salad
- Vegetable lasagna, veg
- Grilled burgers, fries, veg
- Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese, veg
