I know you're not supposed to thaw food and refreeze it, but does that just go for uncooked?

I'd like to make some vegetable beef soup and freeze half of it.

It's totally fine to freeze a recipe that you have made from previously frozen stuff. I do this all the time, buy a meat for cheap and freeze until I am ready to do a cooking session and then freeze what I make. I hope this helps Sarah

I've used previously frozen meat before and refroze it again in a recipe with no ill-effects. Often, I buy ground hamburger and freeze in 1 lb portions. Later, when I make spegetti or another dish containing ground hamburger, I will freeze a portion. Sometimes there is a bit of texture change, but not really that noticable. The only time I've had a problem was when I made burgers from frozen meat, didn't use all of them, and refroze and tried to use them again after another freezing...not a good idea. In my defense, I was a new wife at the time! Happy cooking!

I work at a butcher shop and it's just fine, you may loose a little flavor. Making meals ahead is a good way to save time and money, so keep it up.
