I finally have (or will have upon delivery) a much-wanted chest freezer. I'm wondering what sorts of snacks I can make and freeze that are appropriate for a 2 year old and a 5 year old. Also, how do I make said snacks, how do I freeze them and for how long, and how do I prepare them for eating (ie thawing, cooking, etc).
I'm specifically looking for something that I can pull out of the freezer and do something simple with before taking along for a snack on the run. I'm hoping to avoid stopping at fast food places, such as when we hit the mall and the kids get the munchies, as an example.
Maybe mini muffins? Fruit parcels of some sort? tarts?
I'm aiming for healthier than mainstream storebought, with minimal sugar and absolutely no artificial flavours or colours.
Ideas anyone?
