I am going to be starting the SCD diet on June 1 and would like some ideas of what all you eat during the day to give me some ideas. I need breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack ideas please. thanks!!

"Lunches on the Run"

I'll do this first since I was thinking about that in main thread. We do picnics after our hikes or the playground now that the weather is nicer and sandwiches are great for this. I use the nut butter bread recipe I posted in the SCD recipes thread with almonds, cashews or pecans.

Sandwiches

Meat or fish spreads from leftovers: grind roast beef, turkey, chicken, salmon, haddock with mustard and/or mayo in food processor. I add homemade cucumber pickles or other fermented veggie to mine.

Dripped yogurt and homemade jam.

Sides

Fruit, fresh or cooked cubes or sauces.

Yogurt (the Panna Cotta recipe I just posted in SCD Recipes thread travels great and is of a thicker texture to eat.)

Avocado pudding: various recipes I make up with different combinations of fruit, lemon/lime juice, coconut oil, nut butters, honey, or vanilla, etc.

Smoothies or fruit slushie packed in a Thermos.

Cold homemade chicken wings or nuggets.

Cold spinach/egg pie is good too, but your taste might be different.

Fresh veggies are great travellers as well, but DS still cannot do raw so fruit is easier to quickly whip up into something. Also cheese travels great but DS cannot do that either, even aged goat cheddar (which is legal) for some reason.

Soup made with bone broths.

Salads with cubes of cheese or meats, fresh and fermented veggies, dried fruits and nuts (some of these ingredients are advanced). Homemade dressings.

Omelets with all sorts of fillings depending on what's in fridge.

"Kid Friendly Breakfasts"

Eggs/omelets with homemade sausage and ketchup

Muffins and sausage.

Pancakes (Midas Gold and Banana and Squash pancake recipes at www.pecanbread.com)

French Toast (use yogurt as replacement for milk, use legal vanilla and a bit of honey whipped with an egg to dunk nut butter bread. Fry in butter.)

Smoothies: various combinations of yogurt/fruit/juice/coconut oil/raw egg yolks.

Hot Cereal: make Midas Gold pancake recipe without baking soda and cook in butter, stirring to make a big lump. Remove from heat and add yogurt to make a creamy spoonable consistency. Can add all sorts of fruits or flavorings to this. Can use with all sorts of nuts, freshly ground in fp, not just almond flour.

breakfast: bacon or sausage, eggs, yogurt, fruit, muffin

I just make things up on the fly or modify recipes that I used to make. One of my goals has been to increase the use of bone broths b/c they are so beneficial with tons of minerals and gelatin to soothe and heal the gut.

Chicken Stews
In a base of chicken broth and butter sauteed onions add the following ingredients. Can make creamy with yogurt, or top with almond flour biscuits:

- green beans, garlic, carrots
- peas and carrots
- butternut squash, mushrooms and sage
- broccoli and cheese
- mixed colored peppers, peanut butter, coconut milk

Lamb or Beef Stews
As above with lamb or beef bone broth

- turnip and carrots (actually turnip used to be allowed but not recent edition of BTVC?)
- peas and carrots

Sloppy Joes over toasted bread/biscuits

Sweet and Sour Hawaiian meatballs with pineapple and red/green peppers

Sauce is made from vinegar, honey and chicken bone broth, thickened with gelatin.

Meatballs with tomato juice sauce over spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles in BTVC

I would say I make these a couple times a week, mostly we do just plain things, especially DS. Did you see the other longer thread in this forum, Carey? I think I posted the Beef/chicken strogonoff idea there.

Hey, how did I miss this thread? It's a good one.
First, Jane, how do you make homemade sausgage? (I'm gonna post this on the SCD chefs thread too.)

Here's what we eat regularly:
blueberry, banana, cin/raisin muffins (for dd I just make them plain w/out any fruit added - she likes them best this way.)
grilled cheese sandwiches on yummy bread I'll post on SCD chefs later
chicken avocado salad - yum!
spaghetti squash w/parmesan and SCD legal sauce
spinach pie
chicken soup
burgers w/cheese & sauteed onion
chicken nuggets
egg fu yung (this is VERY yummy!)
all kinds of smoothies

And for picnics/playground etc.:
cubes of cheese
cheese crackers
cold broccoli stalks (dd likes this)
carrot chips - yum yum!
sliced up Applegate turkey breast (SCD legal)
slices of avocado
cold salmon (if it's leftover)

All the recipes I found on the pecanbread site. I'm really into the carrot chips lately - - just ate all of them and didn't save any for dh.

I just made Jane's hot cereal recipe for dd and it was yummy! She thought it was her regular oatmeal.

Yes, that hot cereal recipe has saved the day many times. Yummy with pecans too.

I just make sausage patties from ground dark meat turkey. Just add spices: sage, rosemary, thyme, whatever, s&p and fry up, that's it. For me I sometimes add chopped onion or apples/cinnamon too. Pinch of cayenne.

Is the ground turkey raw, or do you use leftover cooked turkey?
