Hello!

My daugther started a new preschool (she's 2) last week and she loves it. They don't provide lunches and I need some ideas for lunches that can be served cold (they don't really heat things up). She's still practicing a spoon, fork, etc. So finger foods would be good.... I hate to say it, but she's a bit picky!!!

Thanks for any ideas! (X-posted on toddlers and working moms!!)

For my kids (3 & 2) when they go to Creche or daycare I sometimes pack them....

Sandwiches are the default (various spreads/fillings), leftover pasta bakes (not so messy when cold), scalloped potato's leftovers, fruit (especially grapes, banana's, mandarins), crackers with sliced cheese & vegemite, veggies cut into sticks - sometimes with hummus/dip, hard boiled egg.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head finger food wise.

I'm big on leftovers...so many things taste better cold the next day. They don't mind.
I also find they are not quite so picky when they are away from me...which is nice too.

They're not too bad really, but they will try things for other people that they won't eat at home.

I'm watching here for ideas as well but just wanted to say that we've had great luck with a good quality thermos keeping soups and things at a temp suitable for a toddler when heated very hot in the am. Just an idea. Chicken nuggets work too in the thermos.
