I have a LOT of apples from a friend's tree and tons of dates... I'm having some people over for a BBQ tomorrow and am looking for a good dessert recipe that uses (at least one of) these things! Help!

From my website, www.cookingTF.com

Apples and Walnuts

1/4 cup soft dried dates, pitted and chopped (optional)
3 large golden delicious apples, peeled, cored, quartered and sliced into thin segments
3/4 cup raisins
Juice of 2 lemons
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 - 1 cup ground crispy walnuts

Chop the dates in a food processor until small. Combine all the ingredients except walnuts and allow to soak overnight. Sprinkle with walnuts before serving.

I hope this helps, and you get it in time!
