I'm so completely bored with what we are eating. But I do like that I've been making more simple bean/veggie salads. I thought it would be fun to do a bento week and need more (creative) ideas for what to put in them. I'm thinking I can make a bunch of bean and veggie salads and have that through the week but what else?

(I even ordered us some cute bento boxes and chopsticks!)

I just started exploring the idea of bento boxes for lunch for my daughters. Check out this website for lots of ideas
http://lunchinabox.net/ and from her website, you can find a ton of other bento related sites.

What kind of bento box did you buy? I am very excited to learn more and explore.

A great book you might find useful is

Bento boxes : Japanese meals on the go / Naomi Kijima

Good luck and I would love any ideas or resources you have found useful!

we live in Japan, I make obento for DH everyday.
we use brown rice, a protein or two, green veg, something yellow, usually corn or egg or cheese. Color is very important in the bento
Today was...
2 meat balls with seaweed (from the freezer)
leftover stirfried beef (just the meat)
steamed asparagus
half a hard boiled egg (babe ate the other half when I was making...well she ate the white I ate the yolk)
cherry tomatoes
brown rice ( I put this seaweed paste in the rice, sort of like a sandwich)

we have a basic box.

Someone already mentioned lunch in a box, which is my favorite. There is also http://justbento.com/, another great bento blog.

There is also a mama here on MDC that does a lot of vegan bentos for her kids on her blog, but I just tried to find it in my rss and I read 50+ food blogs and 75+ personal blogs and I have NO IDEA which one is hers. It's a good one, though, and next time I come across it I'll try to come back here and post it.

I love reading about bento, even though I dont' actually do it yet...
