Hello

I came across this great website that lists 30 things you can do around your house in 30 seconds or less.

So I thought it would be cool to start a thread of what all of you can do in say 2 minutes or less.
  • I know that for many of you its just overwhelming to even start decluttering and cleaning. so you dont even want to start
  • So instead of looking at it as a whole -- lets break it down into 2 minute jobs... and before you know it -- you have done minutes and we are all you.
  • So turn on some great musicand lets start listing our small 2 minute accomplishments.
I will start - I can do the following in 2 minutes or less:
  1. rinse the plates from dinner and stick in the dishwasher
  2. Stick a load of laundry in the washer
  3. ost my list of accomplishments here .. LOL
  4. Feed the dog :

Okay -- Your turn

Good idea.

I know that I can hand wash and fill 2 drain racks with dishes in 15 minutes or less. I often set the timer for that.

I can...

...sweep the kitchen floor
...wash the table
...wipe down the counters
...spray the glass clean on the first floor
...do a quick "swipe" of the bathroom (wiping down the sink, toilet and spraying the tub)

throw out anything that's clearly past its prime in the fridge (i usually do that when i'm finished loading the dw and it's not quite full, to fill it up!)

have the babes help me throw any stray toys into a laundry basket to take back upstairs

take out the trash and recycling

spray and wipe down the table & kitchen counters

i cannot sweep a room in two minutes. i clearly need to sweep more often - both to increase my speed and to decrease the amount of stuff i'm sweeping up at one time!

eta: snips here and there DO add up! when i'm watching a tv show at night, i always clean/tidy during the commercials and it makes a difference.

when ds was much younger (he is 17 now) .. we would play a game -- when the commerical comes on we run and get something done and make it back to the couch before the shows starts again.

It would be simple things like - I would fold the laundry while the show was on and then get him to put stuff away during the commerical etc etc

what a great idea! maybe it will inspire me to get a bunch of little things done here and there today. I really need to get this place clean and organized.

I did take the trash and recycling out earlier. It took me less than 2 minutes to drag them down to the road. feels cleansing in a way, to rid my garage of that stuff

I discovered that I can unwrap half a bag of Andes mints in under 2 minutes. It felt like it took forever though.

If any of you are like me -- I get overwhelmed very easily by a messy unorganized home. IT seems like it only takes a day of me not staying on top of it for it to be: ...... and then I almost dont want to tackle it .. and over the holidays with everyone home and extra company it seems to happen at a much faster rate!!!

so if you are like me -- lets try to get a few 2 minute things done so we dont reach the point of wanting to:

yeah, I'm like that too and it didn't even take a whole day for my house to become a disaster. We had company leave on Monday (it was pretty dang clean before they arrived) and within a few hours I swear my kids trashed the place. That, and I got really lazy after staying on top of things for days in a row while we had guests so I let the dishes and laundry pile up. Last night I got a good amount done but with the kids off from school and the neighbor kid who never goes home : it's a never-ending mess.

I think I'll take 2 minutes and vacuum the kitchen floor. When I get my butt off the computer, of course That might motivate me to get stuff done, I can't imagine adding christmas gifts and wrapping paper to this disaster zone, tomorrow!

I used my time to clean the mess that is my kitchen. And even that little bit made me feel better.

Edit, 1:09-

Well, this got me to clear the dining room table and the kitchen counter and wipe them down. Then I brought the clean laundry upstairs from the dryer for dh to put away, moved the wet clothes to the dryer and started another load in the washer.

I am overwhelmed today --- haven't really done any housework for a couple of days -- just the basics.

So I am going back to doing some 2 minute chores. Anybody in with me on this one .......

I am going to take 2 minutes and make my bed and then relax with a fresh cup of coffee

I agree, 2 minutes is not so overwhelming

I just made our bed, too. Then I picked up any trash I could find upstairs (mostly in the bathrooms, like empty toilet paper rolls!)

Oh, and I transfered the laundry. Definitely didn't fold or put anything away I tossed all the contents from the dryer on the couch. That would take more than a couple minutes and I have no motivation ATM!

This is such a good idea. I'm going to print out that list in the original post to stick up on the kitchen bullentin board...I think it will help DH a lot. He has ADD and finds it very hard to complete a task, so maybe having some little things that don't take long to complete would be easier for him.

Woo hoo!

I scraped out two pots on the stove that still had pasta in them from Friday (embarassing) and set them to soak in the sink. Then I spent the rest of the time decluttering the floor in my room, which is far from done, but looks better.

Our garage is the "bad" area of our home. We have just tossed stuff in there for months

so I did several 2 minutes and filled 2 huge bags with pop cans, 2 huge bags of newspapers

and flatened several boxes

now I hope to get rid of some of it tomorrow

Its going to take a long time -- but I cant wait until its organized and tidy in there

My two minutes got me motivated and I did more :

In about 15 minutes I:
Switched the laundry over
Cleaned the toys, garbage and laundry out of the bathroom
Swept the bathroom
Moped up a spill in the kitchen
Swept the kitchen
Cleaned up various garbage in the kitchen

And with that time spent, the rest of the house seems more manageable!

I am loving how much I can get done in such a short time! It's been the best motivator for me so far with cleaning. I am not really the best at it.
